Does this thing work like the Hauppauge HD-PVR? Meaning I could record directly off the cable box? The wife wants to know what to get me for xmas and this could be it.

No, the HD PVR is a capture/recording devices, the HD200 is a playback device.

It would still be nice if they enabled the USB ports on the HD-100.

I was clearing out some boxes last night and came across the original box for the HD-100. One of the features listed on the front of the box is "USB 2.0 Mass Storage Interface" listed under specifications.

So much for truth in advertising!

Glad you got it! My 4 will be arriving on Monday. I'm also getting new QIP7100 FIOS boxes so I can have firewire channel changing. And hook it all up to my new HD-PVR's. Hoping to finally have a setup that works solid.

Did we need to upgrade to a post 6.4.8 version for the new extender to work?

Hmm - just pulled my old HD100 box out and sure enough it does say "USB 2.0 Mass Storage Interface" on the box. Still, you can't really claim false advertising since SageTV never advertised the USB ports as active - matter of fact they specifically said they weren't active. Now if you bought the box from a store based on what was on the box I think you maybe would have a point, but not via mail order...

Still, I wonder if it is possible to activate the USB port on the HD100? If so they definitely should do so.

we know the ports are receiving power as there are posters charging their cell phones through the port. In my humble, non professional opinion , I believe the answer is yes, with a firmware update, this feature could be activated. How much work to make it work, that I don't know.

I think the way it works is the HD200 should work with a relative previous version BUT in that scenario you will need a placeshifter/extender license for it to use. You must be on Sage 6.5.x for the HD200 to work as a recognized Sage device that DOESN'T require a license.

Are there any Canadians out there who have received a shipping notice yet? I am getting kind of worried - I ordered very earlier and I hope I wasn't shut out of the first round.

I am from Montreal and I also ordered 1 very early:

Order placed : 12/01/2008 08:46:58 PDT

I hope that it is just because they need more time to process all the orders...

I haven't received a shipping notice yet either and ordered on Dec. 1.

hrmmm... lets get back to interesting stuff...like has anyone "popped the cherry" on the HD200 to tell us what is on the inside?

EDIT - ADDed
Sorry... didn't mean to make any Canadians made at me. I should have put a smiley next to "interesting stuff" I hope you are all handled in the same order that we are. I would imagine it just takes longer to setup the shipment to go over the border.

I am still interested in seeing if there is an issue with shipping to Canadians - we can't pop the cherry if we never get our units shipped out the door.

Thumbs up SageTV HD200 works great

I recieved mine yesterday and hooked it up. It worked perfectly using SageTV 6.4.8. I have spare Placeshifter licease for the HD200 to use. I loaded SageMC with the centerstage theme and everything is working just like my HD100 except the UI is faster. Live TV and Recordings from the HD-PVR work and a RIP BluRay disc.
I like the idea of it being small and able to put it anywhere but I put mine with the rest of my equipment that is 17" wide and looks out of place. May have to add a IR remote relay and hide it, would not have to look at the flashing network if I do.

Thank you SageTV for producing something that works and works well. I own a RUKO HD1000 and it was nice untill it destoryed itself. Vista MC is nice but was only good for a single room.
SageTV is the bomb!!
