well, the quest continues.

Turns out that even with the InterVideo codecs, I was still seeing blurring on some material, particularly fast pans.

I ended up building a graph and using UNE after much trial and error to generate acceptable mpeg files.

Now to tackle the epgs, ineups and the like.

Ho hum

Well, a few months later, I've configured my SageTV server (Dual Xeon 2.8GHz) witha couple of FloppyDTV cards and installed a Quad LNB.

Subscibed to Digiguide and installed the convertor and Stepahnies importer. Did a scan of Astra 28E, edited my frequency file and ran it all through the importer.

I now have a Sage working as I think it's supposed to and FreeSat TV looks great on my HD1000. Rock solid and looking forward to enhancing in the future.

So, the secret seems to be use proper hardware and don't try messing with non-standard equipment.

Peter,
Very glad to see things worked out for you in the end. The hardware is definitely important to success with HTPCs - and makes life much easier if things are as the HTPC prefers. Congrats!

I thought I was only one in Ireland using sage. Do you use a DVB-T card/usb stick for RTE TV3 etc as they are in HD in me area (north east)
