So with this workaround if I have a Rage Fury I can have x-card decode with full GUI all in one TV input?

Any negatives?

OK, now it is my turn to be full of questions... or at least one more:

How is the quality of the video on the TV done this way -- is interlacing back to being a concern? I'm curious if there is a downside to using this connection, since I like the xcard's output quality so much.

And, thanks -- it is always nice to hear about these connectors that don't seem to be documented much.

Aha! So the TV output quality is the great unanswered question!

Of course, I haven't confirmed that my gf2 even has that VIP port...

- Andy

P.S. I wonder how many SageTV users are using an Xcard.

So the X-card gets hooked up to the video card with a ribbon cable, and then the output runs from the video card to the tv? So the X-cards external output is not used? Or is this backways?
Correct?

None of the pictures show the UI on the TV through the x-card...thought this was the point? Am I missing something?

So is there much degradation in the signal on the passthrough? With this setup is it more like running full screen on the video output of the vid card BUT with the decoding of the X-Card?

Hum, seems the way to go if one can find an older card with the 26 pin connector.
Would be an easier concept for the family to use.

Wow, just went digging, I have a RIVA 128 (Has Diamond Multimedia on it) card here with S-Video out and RCA out, that might just be the ticket? What you reckon?

SHS...would the UI be overlayed on top of the x-card or would the ui be on a different video input of the tv than the x-card video output?

So once Sage is in fullscreen mode it will display as just sage? correct? So it would look the same as what I have now without the X-Card. i.e. Vivo 64 out to tv and PVR 250 providing the tv signal?

Well I have identified the card as a Diamond Viper 330, now to find some drivers that enable the tv output. If that works I should be all set to run the X-card when it arrives

The RIVA 128 has no driver for 2000/XP other then build in one and only Win9x OS has the drivers for enable the S/Video port.
It best to get TNT2 or GF2 MX for 2000/XP

so then why is everyone yelling for x-card osd? Seems like it can be done now. Is it just the yearning for a universal solution not requiring special video cards?

-Deadbolt

ps - Along the same lines of video tricks ---- Anyone able to use Graphedit to put DVDs over PVR-350? I have heard this is working for some.
