I would recommend not using the splitter before the drop amp. Just connect the amp directly to the cable feed. If you bought the amp I posted, the beauty of it (and one of the reasons it's so expensive) is that it has zero return signal loss... so it's designed to have a cable modem on the amplified side of things and still work. It will return the cable modem's return signal at the same power as it would if it were wired directly to the cable feed. If you do this you won't have an attenuated signal feeding the amp, and get better SNR to all your devices (including the cable modem!)
