Don't assume just because your system can handle HD content just fine that the HD-PVR output will work for it - at least that's what I'm seeing on my client PC. This thing is going to take some time to get situated I think
I suspect that if your system can handle HD movies (Bluray or HDDVD) you should be able to get it to work.

Broadcast HD and probably even the mpeg4 HD from r5000 require less processing power.

Multiple Tuners?

Does anyone have 2 tuners on the same machine with Sage?

I'm so close to switching back to SageTV (started with it, but went to MCE for a while for the WAF) if I could get this working with dual tuners and my HDHR.

So far, including the clips found in the link "720p Clips provided by reader "stein"", I haven't had very good playback; audio is in advance of the video, etc. Also, doesn't NBC broadcast in 1080i? The NBC clip was 1280x720, which struck me as strange. I would venture to say that the HD PVR is resizing to 720p while recording?

Obviously this is a new product, I understand that there's going to be a few bumps in the road, but I don't mind giving feedback to help make it better. Have all these recordings been done using Arcsoft?

Perhaps Sage TV might handle the recordings a bit better.

Other than the files I produced, I can't really comment. As I mentioned, I'll add some additional ones tonight.

Agreed.

Both of the clips I put up were made using SageTV. They also played perfectly (no audio delay or anything else for that matter) in SageTV HD100 extender so I think any playback problems are with the playback - not with the recording.
Has anyone else tried those clips to see how they work for them?

Does anyone know why I would be able to play the test clips people have put up in everything but Sage? I downloaded the Without a Trace and the Baseball Tonight clips, both play fine in Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, and Cyberlink PowerDVD8. When I try to play the files through Sage though, I get a second or two of video, the screens goes black and no more video really comes through except for a few still shots, the audio plays straight through though. I've tried both VMR9 and Overlay with the Cyberlink and Nvidia decoders, nothing seems to help. Any ideas on how to make these files play in Sage?

I had to update my server and HD-100's firmware to the latest versions to do so, but all of the clips play fine.

No sound

Ok not sure whats wrong, but I can not get any sound. I know there is no 5.1 support in the current driver. So does that mean that a toslink connection is a no-go completely (even to capture 2.0 sound from it)? I have also tried using RCA audio from my STB, and changed my STB's audio options from Advanced to Stereo (hoping to kick over to the RCA ports) and nothing I record has sound.

Now I wont say there isnt a sound signal of some sort there, as my Denon receiver lights up with stereo audio, but no sound actually comes through. Playback is through my HD 100, so no issues there with codecs being set wrong. Anyone have ideas?

Also, using the Hauppauge software to capture yields no sound either. Wonder if its a setting in the STB (Moto 6200).

You may need to get to the menu on your set top box to make sure the audio you want to use is enabled.

Kirby, I'm having similar audio issues. I was successfully working using the component stereo jacks from the STB to the HD PVR, but only getting 2 channel. I wanted 5.1, so I hooked up the optical. Nothing but silence.

I went (optical) from STB to HD PVR in, HD PVR out to TV - no problem on the TV, I got sound. But the recordings on via Sage were silent (missing audio track). I made sure I changed the configuration within Sage to Component+SPDIF. No soap.

Guys, 5.1 is not currently supported by the HD-PVR. It's coming in a driver update but not out yet.

So no optical for now? At least I know it's not something I'm doing wrong!

I am wondering if part of the problem is that its making AAC 2.0 audio. I dont think my Denon can handle that, if its just passing that audio type to it. I am going to have to do some major rewiring to test the RCA audio outs of the STB to ensure those are working. Or I could just wait for the next driver (that scares me).

Optical (SPDIF) is fine - as long as it isn't bitstream.

Bitstream can be anything from 2.0 to 5.1 - no matter what it is, the drivers can't handle it. Your STB should have an option to toggle between bitstream and PCM. PCM is what you want.

I'm using a Motorola 6412, and there's a L-PCM audio option in the config options. I'll give it a try.

No soap - silence. I'll just have to wait for the updated drivers, and go component for now.

So, has anyone been able to edit out commercials with these recordings so far, even manually?

I edit them out inside my dvd authoring program (TMPGenc DVD Author 3). I want to use VideoRedo, but it doesn't handle h.264 files yet. Soon, but not now.
