Info OSD Shows up randomly

I know I've seen something about this on the forum, but I can't find it and I can't remember the resolution.

Last night my HD Extender started showing the OSD you normally see when you hit the Info button at random intervals. I only have one remote in the room and I have buried it under a blanket thinking it was inadvertently having the Info button pushed. No luck. I tried reverting to a previous STV. No luck. I tried reverting to the production version of the firmware. No luck. I know it must be simple, but I can't think of it. Please help.

I would recommend you cover your Extender's IR Receiver with electrical tape or something. Verify the remote won't work. If it still has the problem...you know it's not an errant remote signal of some kind. If it no longer does it, figure out what might be tricking the Extender.

I figured it out and it had nothing to do with the remote.

Last night right before this started I was getting ready to put in my 1TB drive that came today. To do this, I removed my 2 small recording drives and changed their drive letters. Next I removed them from the recording drives in Sage. What I forgot was to remove some of their sub-directories that had DVD rips in them from the import directories. When the re-scanning of the import directories was happening, the OSD would show up. It suddenly hit me that the timing was consistent enough it had to be something I had configured.

Long story short, well kind of short, the problem is gone now.

Display menu popping up during playback

I've got an HD100 that I've been using without problem since I bought it when they were first released. It suddenly has started popping up the program info display randomly during playback, as if someone has hit the Info button on the remote. It does this even if the (IR) remote is not in sight of the extender. What's more, when it does this the display never times out, it stays on the screen until you use the remote to take it off. The time-out is set to 3 seconds or something normally, and still works as expected when you pull up the dislay manually.

Anyone else seen anything like this? I updated recently to the newest Beta firmware - possible this has anything to do with it? I'm not entirely sure how to revert back, plus I need the beta to playback HD-PVR files, so I'm hoping that's not it. I've tried unplugging/rebooting/etc with no luck.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I found that same thing happening when I had one of my import directories set to a path I removed, but didn't remove it from the configuration in Sage. I think it had to do with automatic re-scanning the import directories.

I am using MC, and coincidentally I did just change turn on the "automatically re-scan import directories" functionality in the properties file, which I'd never had on before. So that gives me two things to try. I'll let you know if either of them fixes things when I get a chance to try them.

So it's looking like a SageMC bug then.

I had this problem and fixed it by following the instructions from this thread:

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...u+Pops+minutes

"going into the meta-data options from the Videos menu and set DVD Profiler auto import to Disabled"

Yea, that's a feature I like. It hasn't really bothered me yet so I'll just keep it enabled. I have auto scanning disabled so I only get that when I'm manually scanning and watching something else at the same time.

I had this problem, as well (w/SageMC). After further investigation it seemed the info would pop every 5 minutes when viewing a video/dvd. Turned out it was the auto re-scan import directories feature. Once disabled, all is well.

It must be caused by both of the scans being "active" somehow. Some people seem to have fixed it by disabling the auto scan of the import directories. I was able to fix it by disabling the auto-refresh of the metadata in the video directory, but I still have auto scanning of import directories enabled. Curious.

Info screen pops up during playback

Odd Behavior

Is anyone else having this problem? When I am watching a show the Info screen will pop up during playback and I have to manually remove it. It seems to happen about every 15-20 minutes. If Sage is in the background it will pop it up to the front as well. I tried disabling Girder (for the Remote) and remapping the key for Info but it still happens.

I am running the latest version of SageTV server and am using SageMC with the HD-PVR and a remote server. This problem does not happen on the client\remote server machine but I don’t think the client is using the latest version. I am also running the Netflix plug-in and Comskip.

Try disabling automatic media import directory scanning.

I think you do it by setting the following property in your ...\SageTV\sage.properties file:

seeker/periodically_scan_library=false

Make sure you exit SageTV first before editing the file or the changes won't take.

Aloha,
Mike

I had the exact same issue. Turned out it was the dvd profiler automatic import under the videos section. Turning it off fixed my issue.

Disabling automatic media import directory seems to have fixed it.

Thanks,

Info shows up every 10-15 minutes

I upgraded to the latest version a couple of weeks ago when it came out. Since I've done this, the info keeps showing up every 10-15 minutes when I watch a ripped DVD. Anyone else see this? I searched and I can't find anything about it.

Try going to the video library (My Videos) and open the Options menu. Select "Meta-data Options" and check to see if "Auto Load DVD Profiler Meta-Data:" is enabled. If it is, then disable it. Do you still get the info popup every 10-15 min? Please report your results back here. Thanks.

Aloha,
Mike
