Info Menu Pops up every 5 minutes

I'm not sure what's causing this, but on all three of my Extenders it's doing it.

While watching anything, after about 5 minutes, it's as if the Info button has been pressed, and it sits there are displays the info window, and the progress bar and it does not go away unless I press the info button myself.

I'm running the latest firmware, latest 6.3.10 on my server, SageMC 6.3.7a, latest show analyzer, and this wasn't happening until about a week ago. Now it ALWAYS happens. Any ideas what's causing this? There doesn't even seem to be an IR command that results in a persistent info window.

It doesn't do it with the Default STV, so I think for now I'm gonna start using that instead of SageMC. Anyone else have this issue?

I did and I thought something was wrong with my remote. I reverted back to sagemc 6.3.6(?) and haven't seen it since.

Weird you brought it up, I had just got a new Harmony and thought it was the cause.

I have noticed the same thing at times. I just figured it was my harmony remote but maybe there's something else going on. I only use SageMC - i don't think I could live with the default STV for even a day so I put up with it.

I have a different harmony remote 550 and 890 in each room. I have tried letting it play with the remote hidden in the draw, and it still happens. Could it be something the harmony is sending that's causing this to creep up as a delayed reaction even? Just seems like too much of a coincidence, then again it wasn't happening til recently.

I went to the default STV, loaded comskip plugin and a few other mods, and all is working well, but I like SageMC better.

I had the same problem. No idea why this worked, but I fixed it by going into the meta-data options from the Videos menu and set DVD Profiler auto import to Disabled.

It has to do with the auto import scan. Turn off the automatic re-scanning of your import folders and it will stop happening. Doesn't sound like it should be related, but I noticed it popped up when I was doing a manual re-scan one day, turned off the auto scan and haven't had the problem since.

edit: Heh! AzTech beat me to it ^^

Does this mean that I have to always re-scan the directory manually? Is it that there is new content being added to the directory, and so it pops up the info window, and the frequency is directly related to the new content being added?

I suppose there could be 2 causes to the same problem but in my case, I have automatic re-scanning of import folders enabled and it wasn't the cause of the phantom info display. I suspect that if you turn off the automatic import of DVD Profiler info, it will fix your problem.

I had this same issue when my sage server was stressed doing something.... i.e Copy large files to my desktop for editing, running comskip. The server was running on a P3-800 w/512 megs. About 3 weeks ago, I upgraded the server to P4 2.4 with a gig of ram and haven't seen the unattended info popup since.

Now when I go to load the Sage-MC, I just complaints that the Java version is mismatched... I think I'll just go with the default STV. The two pane option in the recordings list is actually pretty cool. Too bad there weren't more themes available for it.

There's always this one.

Sage Pro UI theme for the default STV

I highly recommend it.

I basically re-installed SageMC and checked off the DVD Profiler Option in the Videos menu, and problem solved. Thanks for the help.

HD100 Spurious Info

I just got my new HD extender set up last night. I love it!

The one issue I'm having is that I seem to get the "Info" displayed every so often. Basically, it is like I hit the Info button on the remote. The progression bar is on the bottom of the screen and the name/information about the video is on the top.

I have the newest version of the firmware and the newest Sage client. I am running the newest SageMC. I am watching full VOB rips of DVDs. This problem is not present when I watch the videos on the PC client.

Thanks!

Matt

I (actually my wife) noticed a similar behavior. In my case this seemed to occur anytime, the "videos" section was updated (i.e. added another DVD) while something was being viewed. Not sure if its related to the scanning of the directory in my case or related to the end of file being written on the share.

I had this too... http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32325

Haven't had this happen again after disabling the auto import of DVD Profiler info

It isn't a bug to be reported to SageTV if it is only happening in the SageMC STV when the above-mentioned option was enabled. A bug report for it should only be filed if it happens while using the default STV w/o any customizations enabled.

I took that to be a given that to file a bug report you should recreate the problem using the default STV w/o any customizations enabled. Should have used more words on my previous post.

They get a lot of bug reports using customizations, so I figured I better clarify.

Disabling the auto-update of the library fixed the problem. Thank you very much!
