Here's the problem. I subscribe to Directv's MLB Extra Innings package and the Super MLB fan (or whatever it's called) to get all the games in HD.

Directv uses sub-channels or something to broadcast the games in HD. For example, the Sage Directv guide shows the channels 720-750, which are correct. However, let's say the Red Sox are playing a team on channel 727. The HD version of the game is on 727-1; the SD version is on just 720.

This is a problem because there are no "-1" channels in the Sage Directv guide.
Kinda bummed...
I'm sure that can be fixed. I'm dying to see a clip from ESPN HD or something sport related in HD.

Obviously on the fly transcoding of 1080i of H.264 would require downconverting the video and changing formats for playback on the MVP. If anyone can get this working, I would love to hear about it. I can see the WAF dropping if I have to tell her that Discovery / Food / Etc. in HD are only able to be played back on the HD100's.
I'm not saying it can't be done by any means. I just know my lowly 3.0 ghz, single core processor doesn't handle this task well. At the moment, I'm most concerned about getting my AMD dual-core HTPC in the living room working with the HD-PVR output and then I'll see what can be done with the MVPs.

Oh I know you aren't saying it can't be done. I'm just waiting to see what kind of horsepower it would take to do this, before pulling the trigger (I might end up pulling the trigger anyway).

It's here!! and I'm lucky enough that my boss just told me to get mine working asap!! Nice when work and play collide...

Hopefully my Macbook Pro Core Duo 2.0 can handle it in bootcamp

Edit: Works awesome on my 2 year old Macbook Pro. Recorded a couple of HD trailers at different bit rates, all looks fantastic!

Any reason to think that my new hdpvr (currently sitting on my porch getting rained on) will cause issues with sagemc? I don't think there has been a sagemc update in a while, and I fear for my WAF if weirdness ensues tonite.

I've been using SageMC on the current beta without any problems.

Current status summary?

So, just before I jump in and try the beta w/ this device, has anyone got a fully functional setup yet?
With HD-PVR and SAGE using and HD Set-top box?
If so, what are your hardware, OS, setup specs so we can duplicate?
I have not heard of anyone with a working IR blaster yet either.
What version of driver etc.....

I've got the HD PRV working fine (only flaw is a minor audio delay).

My Specs:

Dell Dimensions E520 (Dual Core 2.80ghz)
Windows XP Home SP2
1 GB RAM
500 GB SATA Hard Disk

Verizon Fios using their Motorola 6412 STB

I've recorded about 10 shows since Monday afternoon. Excellent video quality.

I'm using SageMC also and it works just fine - not a factor in getting the HD-PVR to work.

Word of advice on the WAF. Install and run the HD-PVR, focus on getting it working on an HD-extender at first and try to avoid recording important (read important to the wife) shows on it until things are working just right. Then move on to your client PCs and get them to work right.

Quick Question. Just got mine today. Never used ArcSoft. Is their a way to add more formats for converting or at lease more profiles?

Also is their a editor somewhere to cut the clip?

What driver version are you using? The 1.0 or 1.3 beta?
Your IR blaster is working fine?
Are you recording HD?

I'm using 1.0 straight out of the box. No IR blaster, I have a USBUIRT for changing the channels. Yup, nothing but HD - TNT HD, Universal HD, etc.

Thanks for the info. Could you elaborate on what an USBUIRT is?
Where to get one, what it does? I assume it is not what came with the HD-PVR?

I am up and fully functional. My server is running XP, running the latest beta of SageTV and the HD PVR drivers provided by SHS in this thread. All viewing is done on 1 of 2 HD100's, and the IR blaster has been working fine.

The HD PVR has been recording quite a bit since Friday evening, including 4 or 5 HD movies, several live baseball games, and 15+ additional programs (both HD and SD). All recordings look great and play back fine on the HD extenders.

Generally a good idea to Google and/or search before asking.

Dan,
Good to hear. Would you consider contributing your information to the "HD-PVR working hardware setups thread?"

Thanks,
