I ordered mine about 10 minutes before anyone at all posted here. I thought I was going to be the one to break the news that Hauppage had started taking pre-orders but alas, by the time I got back here to post the news 2 or 3 others had beaten me to it and, to top it all off, I didn't even make the first group

I'm definitely in the second group as well (#33757). In fact, I wonder if there really is a first group.

Maybe only insiders were able to pre-pre-order and get into this mythical first group. Hmmm....

Aloha,
Mike

Now you're just being paranoid.

Order #34361, so I guess I'm in group 2 as well. That's ok, I'm sure I can find something to keep me occupied while I wait.

I have a bunch of USB cards with the NEC chipset and the one with the Via chipset works best for my R5000. Go figure. If you want a NEC usb card with firewire and live in the bay area you can come get mine. I'm not going to ship it. By then you could buy a new one.

Keep in mind that clear QAM/OTA/Firewire/R5000HD pretty much give you the original digital signal, while the HD-PVR adds an extra analog to digital conversion...

Doesn't seem likely that none of us made the 1st list since we were on it so quickly.

It must be a conspiracy!

Or maybe the 1st batch went to reviewers and reporters!

The first "group" could be the wholesale side. Dealers, distributors or partners, etc.

The Hauppauge website still says shipping May 1. Guess it's too hard for them to update their website; hopefully they're too busy working on the drivers and software for the device.

Also, wondering if the pic with the blue lights is the final; someone said earlier that was a mistaken product shot. Well, who knows with the Hauppauge webmaster asleep...

I emailed Hauppauge to see what info I could get. This was the almost immediate response :

Quote:
Thank you for your order for the HD-PVR. We know how anxiously you are awaiting delivery and we are doing everything we can to expedite shipment from our manufacturer. Unfortunately we have run into a short know who production delay on the plastic cases but we are expecting to ship your order by the end of the month. If they come in any sooner, they will immediately ship out to you.

Delayed because of a lack of cases? They could send me one right now without any enclosure at all if that's all they're waiting on

I'm also in the second group, but when I emailed Hauppauge to request shipping costs last week (May 2), they indicated my order would be shipping mid-May.

They also let me know that my shipping cost (to Hong Kong) was $62! - about triple what I'd typically pay for an item of similar size/weight...Such a pain to know that it's probably sitting on a ship heading from China to the US just so I can pay $62 to send it right back
