This huge RAM usage may have something to do with the Java Virtual Machine. I noticed once that when I had a large number of memory-hungry applications running (my total RAM usage was up around 800 MB), then Sage's memory usage was cut down to somewhere around 60 MB. I know the Windows memory manager is very lazy about trimming the working set of applications when free memory is plentiful, and when free memory starts getting low, Windows starts aggressively trimming back the working set of all running applications, so perhaps that's what is happening here.

Personally, I severely dislike Java as a software platform. Its dependence on the virtual machine makes it slow and inefficient. However, I *love* Sage. I only wish it were written in a better programming language like C++. Then maybe it could use only about 30 MB at the very max as opposed to the 250 MB I've been seeing. But no hard feelings; I have great respect for the people at Frey Technologies. Sage's intelligence never ceases to astound me.

So what if Sage dependence on the virtual machine but you never get around 30MB unless you cut download to a few TV channel after you doing 2 week dtda guide.
All the other run well more then 30MB GBPVR, BeynodTV, ShowShifter, CTpvr
Beside Java is a better platform in long run after all it only cross platform there for min diff OS.
Keep in mind that Jeff hasn't not done much tweakiing which make more Reliable Software.
