sorry, I've been on vacation (actually I'm not really sorry )

I'll try this in the next day or so.

I too tried a several blu-rays on my extender. I am running the beta firmware. It is a very choppy playback. My network is a gig network and it plays fine on my client on a dual core laptop. The server is a quad core, so no problem there. I am running a dedicated drive with 64k formatting.

What I have is much smaller so it has certainly been re-encoded. If you use TSSplitter to split the file up into DVD size pieces and mail me the DVDs I will try that on my setup. This way we know we have the exact same file. PM me if you are interested and I'll send you my home address.

Killervette, can you roll back to the Feb. firmware, which is the one you see if you try to update the extender without entering the beta code and see if your playback experience is better? Also, what STV do you use and sage server version?

Rob and Tmiranda, still hoping to hear your experience with the beta firmware so I can share our mutual testing with George in TS.

Tmiranda, sure I'll try to do that, I'll PM you later as I wouldn't be able to start on this until tonight.

Thanks

I'm hoping to test with the latest beta firmware tonight. I'll also check the size of my natl treasure 2 file. I know it is not re-encoded sinse I used eac3to and mkvmerge to create it.

Hopefully this is a really dumb question.

I ripped my first BD disk last night and SageTV isn't recognizing the file extensions .m2ts or .mkv as "playable" files. Do I need to do something in the properties file or install the beta software to get these recognized? I did not try .ts containers.

Thanks. Hopefully I'm missing something really simple.

Yorick

Yorick, add .mkv to the list for the property seeker/video_library_import_filename_extensions=

Deacon Crusher, I tried the newest beta firmware. It studders throughout the last 15 minutes of National Treasure 2. After reverting to the February firmware it plays smoothly again.

My National Treasure 2 file is 22,313,889,419 and was created with eac3to version 2.46 (downconverting the Dolby True HD to AC3) followed by mkvmerge.

Rob that's your basic good news/bad news.

Sounds like you are confirming my experience, which is good/helpful news.

However, it's a bummer that you and I saw the same thing which is that this brand new beta still has this issue.

My national Treasure 2 rip is 22,314,514,005 bytes (so about the same.)

tmiranda and killervette let's see what we can do about creating overwhelming evidence for the Sage Tech. support dept.

Thanks guys.

No problem...but i need a quick tutorial on TSMuxer. i dont quite understand the tracks. For example, shooter has 3 AC3 5.1 Channel tracks. why 3?

Shooter and Vantage point blu-ray plays perfectly smooth for me....No audio though. not encoded.

extra audio tracks are usually extra languages. Current versions of tsmuxer should list language of track next to it. I've moved away from using tsmuxer at all though so couldn't tell you much more then that.

You say shooter and vantage point play smoothly for you, is that on the extender? With which firmware??

thanks

before you said your blu rays played choppy on the extender with beta firmware.

Then you said the two most recent play smoothly (but no sound yet) and you said that was with the beta firmware.

So, am I understanding correctly, only difference between smooth and poor playback was you hadn't muxed in audio yet?

Could you list specific versions for the extender firmware and sage server software as well as clarify the above? Also, would be great if you could roll back to public release firmware (feb. date) just temporarily and test the rips that play choppy and see if they play fine.

thanks

I tried a Cloverfield sample provided by Deacon Crusher and it did not play well at all.
