But what about the initial question: Is the HD100 able to output 5.1 over s/pdif and stereo via bca or hdmi at the same time?

mine sends HDMI audio to the TV and 5.1 via optical to the surround at the same time.

I have a similar question: can the HD100 send out analog stereo through the RCA outputs AND digital audio over the optical S/PDIF output at the same time? According to my limited testing, the answer seems to be no.

Has anyone gotten this to work, or know of a work around. I cannot use HDMI in my situation.

So s/pdif and hdmi workts together but not s/pdif and BCA??

I need the last option.

I've tested and can confirm that s/pdif and BCA stereo are working at the same time. At least with the latest HD100 beta firmware

Is this only for stereo sound? Or can you select some sort of digital output on the optical out and have stereo sound out of the RCA outputs as well?

For example if you have some 5.1 surround material it means that the digital surround signal is sent to the optical out and a stereo signal is sent to BCA. So you can choose what signal to use.

Thanks for the information. This is exactly what I was hoping for. I currently have the extender hooked up to one TV, but will soon be hooked into a matrix switcher. I plan on sending the signal out to several zones - some of which have digital audio and some that have simple stereo via RCA.
