Well, if you are already looking at moving your drives out to a NAS, your performance will nb up being limited by the network anyways. So there is really no need to true hardware RAID in there. If that is the case, using software RAID within windows is probably plenty to handle what you want. You can try using win2k3, or always just hack winxp with the raid funtionality (I've used windows RAID5 with great results in the past). Either way, the software RAID5 ON the server itself will be faster than ANY raid connected over network.

Seeing as the folks making the case are very clearly a tiny company catering to a niche market- and I asked about the possibility of getting a version of the case which would work for this application, I doubt it's so simple- I'd expect they'd have said something if it was as simple as using a dremel tool. Cest la vie. Hopefully they'll choose to make what I'm after soonish.
