Would any of you lucky folks with touchscreen be able to videotape the touchscreen interface in action? Doesn't have to be anything too special, but I wanted to highlight it on GeekTonic as one of those SageTV features most don't know about.

Uploading it to YouTube or one of the others that allow embedding would work best. This is your chance to show of your cool setup

And if you do it post back here or PM me to let me know its up. Thanks,

Brent - Did you get anything yet? I've been up to my eyeballs lately and haven't been able to do anything for you. But if you're still waiting, I'll give it a shot in the next couple of days.

Do you need audio play-by-play? Or is just the video good?

Haven't gotten any takers yet so I'd love anything you can give me - and no I don't need audio. Really appreciate it!

Hi Guys,

I just intalled this great add in with 6.4.7.

I can't see the volume or mute controls - do I need to do anything to enable them?

Many Thanks!

I'm preparing a blog post on this plugin and thanks to Samgreco I have a nice video of it in action. I'd like to hear from those of you using this as to what touchscreen monitor you are using with this? Also, where did you pick up your touchscreen - was it at an online store, local store, ebay etc?

Thanks for your input!

Is there just an empty space on the control bar where the volume/mute controls belong? Take a look at the screenshots in the download section to see what the control bar is supposed to look like.

Aloha,
Mike

Can you check to see if the image files are present? They are located in

...\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageMCE\TouchscreenIcons

There are a total of 8 files:

vol_up*.png
vol_down*.png
muteon*.png
muteoff*.png

If they are missing, you should be able to grab them from the download and add them to the folder.

Aloha,
Mike

One additional question I was thinking of - what are you guys using to connect the touch-screen monitor to your SageTV? Is there a PC hidden somewhere, a video cable extension or something else?

I have also found a couple of minor bugs, including the missing volume and mute controls. Plus the entire control bar goes "blank" when going into any of the online content (Goole, YouTube, etc.) screens. I recall checking for the geaphics before and they were there.

I am nowhere near my system right now, so I can't check anything.

Hi Guys,

Please let me know about bugs when they crop up. I don't have a touchscreen and I don't use this plugin, so you guys are the only way I have to find out about these things. Thanks.

I'll look into these issues to see what I can find.

Aloha,
Mike

Mike,

No worries. I hadn't really used it much and didn't notice the volume issue. As for the Online video issues, I just tried that for the first time for Brents video.

That's all I know of right now.

FYI

I have posted v1.2 of the Touchscreen Controls import in the downloads section. Please let me know if I introduced any new bugs.

Aloha,
Mike

Here are the changes:

v1.2 (8/11/08)
Fix: Missing vol and mute controls
Fix: Missing touchscreen controls when in menu using 'Empty Menu Theme' (i.e. Online Services)
Rebuilt import to use the new SageTV built-in import generator. As a result there is no longer any specific Java version requirement.

Mike,

Just got home from my trip and decided it was time to try this new version.

Strangely, after I updated, I get nothing now. No controls at all.

I am running SageTV 6.4.2 with Java 1.6.0_7 and SageMC 6.3.7a-fix (?) with SageMC Jar 6.3.7.

If I replace the touchscreen_control_import.xml with the previous version, the toolbar comes back.

Sam

Hi Sam,

Thanks. It worked for me earlier, but I just realized that I did my editing in SageMC v6.3.7a rather than 6.3.7a-fix. This shouldn't have made any difference, but I just tried importing into the -fix version and it spat out all kinds of errors and didn't import properly. I'll try to get it resolved as quickly as possible. I really really hope this new STVi generation method doesn't require the imports to be re-generated for every STV version update.

Aloha,
Mike

Gees you're fast. No worries. I just put the old version back for now.

I'll watch for your fix.

Sam

P.S. Hope you're feeling better, BTW.

Hi Sam,

I'm going to revert to the old import generation process while I figure out what is happening here. I'm hoping to get the update out late tonight.

I'm feeling much better now, thanks.

Aloha,
Mike

Edit: I changed the file in the downloads section back to v1.1 for now.

Ok, a new v1.2 has been added to the downloads section. This version has the same bug fixes but uses the old import generation method.

Sorry for any inconveniences.

Aloha,
Mike

Mike,

All bugs seem to be squashed.

Thanks again for all of the hard work.

I'm completely new to the touch screen world. I'm curious if anyone can suggest the ideal touch screen to mount under the top kitchen cabinets that would work best with a sageTV STB extender. I guess I would need a power outlet in the kitchen cabinet and keep the extender in there. Is the extender compatible with touch screen inputs?
