I am trying to add the Lost podcast from abc.com. The audio podcasts play fine but I can't seem to get the videos to play. I keep getting "The requested video was not found on the server." error. The feed is located at http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/pod...ublishKey=3421

I am trying this through placeshifter so I'm not sure if this is my problem or not.

That usually means that either the URL for the video is incorrect or the video doesn't exist yet/any more.

In this case, if you look at the feed that gets downloaded, there are no URLs for the video feeds, so I guess the feed is incomplete.

I tried adding the 1Up podcast and CommandN and I can't get any icon or title on the main screen; just a blank square. I can select it Ok and the podcast shows up and plays just no icon or title. Yes I went out of the online services menu and back in again. Anyone else having this problem?


P.S. the Title an icons do show up once I select the podcast with all the episodes showing just not on category level.

What file did you add the feed link to? They should have been added to CustomOnlineVideoLinks.properties with the feed name added to a xx/CustomCategories line.

And, do you have a file named CustomOnlineVideoUIText.properties?

I just modified the OnlineVideoLinks.properties file.

Then you didn't follow the directions I wrote in the first post of this thread. Edit CustomOnlineVideoLinks.properties instead.

Otherwise, you'll need to edit OnlineVideoUIText.properties manually & those files will get overwritten when the next SageTV update is installed.

You are right I read the instruction in the file and not the post. I will try it the way you designed it.

Hmm now none of my customizations show up. I put those 2 custom files in the OnlineVideos folder and no custom feeds show up. I see you have a few custom ones already in the file as examples but the don't show up in Sage. I added my custom feeds and they don't show up either. I've attached my custom file.

What STV are you using? If you are not using the default STV that came with v6.3.10, then the steps in this topic won't work for you.

I now see you've been posting in some SageMC topics -- if you are using SageMC, then you'll probably have to go back to editing OnlineVideoUIText.properties and you'll have to edit OnlineVideoUIText.properties manually to add the titles and thumbnail links & ask about using the online videos in SageMC in a different topic. I don't know what the status is for such links in SageMC.

Edit: I changed this thread's title and the first post to, hopefully, make that more clear.

You're right I read right over that part. Once I loaded the default STV it worked just as advertised. Now I have to figure out how to edit the OnlineVideoUIText.properties so I can use SageMC.

In follow-up to a separate thread that I made asking for a specific type of programming to access as a custom link...

Could you post (or perhaps add, on edit, to the original post of this thread) an explanation of what to look for, in terms of URL "naming", that will typically indicate a linkable feed? You know, something for complete noobs like me... "Linking for Dummies... what to look for"?

Maybe just a list of "typical" formats that linkable feeds are given? If there are too many ways that it is done to bother listing, just let me know that it's not possible.

I don't believe there is a typical link format... other than that it consists of a valid URL.

Sites usually list there feeds under a 'podcast' topic/link. To be usable by SageTV, the feed has to contain a direct link to the media, instead of needing to load a web page to view the content.
