I had a lockup as well. Running the latest firmware, but the system locked on the "offical" end of the game according to the program guide. Locked agin with about 1:53 to go. Quickly switched over to my TV's NTSC tuner instead. What a step backwards in picture quality! I could barely see the ball!

Had to turn the extender off to recover.

Sage support answered the bug report. Updated Sage to 6.3.8 RC, Java 1.6, and latest extender firmware. Never liked running betas or RC's but hopefully this will solve the problem.

I'll post any results.

So far, so good. The extender has not hiccuped since the updates. I've been trying to duplicate the Super Bowl "incident", pausing 'live' TV, going past the epg stop time, etc, and no problem. Another report in a week or so.

What about "problems watching HD on extender", or "Superbowl issues, help needed", or "HD causes freeze on my extender", or "HD freezes, anyone else?"

"HD Extender NOT ready for PrimeTime" sounds like you are a competitor trying to create bad press for the unit (and hoping Google search will find it). Or that Sage has really screwed you because you purchased a 1st version of the unit and they won't be fixing it for you. Or that hundreds of users have had problems with the unit so it's not ready for primetime. Or you have lots of problems with it and Sage shouldn't be selling it... when in actuality, many users are thrilled with their box and are happy Sage released it when they did, and your issue is a somewhat isolated instance.

Again, no issue with the goal of your post. I think it's good to work at finding out what caused problems. My issue with the title. (and I'm just 1 person... and in a bad mood today I guess )
x2 Maybe a WAF spiraling down added in would have put it over the top.

All went well. Watched the Pro Bowl yesterday in the same fashion as the Super Bowl and no problems. Let's hope this means no more lockups / freezes.

Not sure if the latest extender firmware or updating to Sage 6.3.8 RC fixed the problem, but seems to work.

Would you mind changing the title of the thread? I could obviously do it if I wanted to; but I'd rather you change it as a satisfied customer.

I'm a new user of SageTV and I'm not sure you should change the title since this thread got my attention because the title was so negative. Now, after reading through it and seeing a resolution I am convinced that I will be buying an extender once they become available again.

Maybe a note in the first post stating that the problem has been resolved would be appropriate.

You won't be able to do that, but I saw your change in the first post & applied it to this thread.

I would tack all this upto being an "early adopter".....I purposely didn't buy when it first came out just so everyone else could work out the bugs. Unfortunately, now they aren't instock so maybe I should have been an early adopter and just dealt with the growing pains!

I think your right.

There have been a few bumps in the "early adopter" road, but Sage has done a masterful job of ironing them out in a very timely manner. IR issues are solved. DTS soundtracks are solved. Freezes appear to be solved....

It just works great!

A couple of problems remain

1) No extenders are in stock (a really big problem)

2) Those USB ports really need to be put to some use
