I thought I read somewhere that they were happy for us to do this, after all we are paying subscriptions for the purpose?

They could be, it was just a guess on my part. The post before yours maybe the better answer

Nick.

Hi,

I've updated the file in the download area. It will still work with older versions of DG as well.

Regards,

Nick.

What was the change required? I'm using the Birtles grabber, is it likely to still fail with 8.4?

I had to inset a pause between each read of the web data. It works with 8.4. I have no idea about the birtles grabber!

Nick.

Between each read, is that between each channel or do you read in smaller chunks?

What length of pause?

2 seconds between each channel. I tried 1 second but it still sometimes failed.

if you need to do this on my grabber simply change line 71 from

Code:
		if download(URL,sessionID,channelIndex,startDate) then
			channelIndex = channelIndex+channelsToDownload
			else
to
Code:
		if download(URL,sessionID,channelIndex,startDate) then
			channelIndex = channelIndex+channelsToDownload
                        XGUI.Sleep(2000)
			else

Hi, I am in the process of moving to the DG2XML solution but I have an issue. The DG2XML application doesn't seem to grab the new channels I added to the digiguide.

It seems to grab my first digiguide "grid" which had 25 channels , and creates a 16Mo file.

But I added several channels to my digiguide grid since (ITV-HD, BBC-HD, Film4+1, ... ), but they do not seem to have been picked up by the DG2XML grabber ?

I can see the new channels online using my other PC via the web service (192.168.1.11:2402), so I know they are there.

But when I use Stephane's XMLTV Importer, and go to the channel lineup, the newly added channels do not show in the drop down list of channels (which seems to indicate they are not present in the XML file created by DG2XML). The "old" channels are still there (such as BBC-1 (101), BBC-2 (102) etc ..)

Hope it is clear, help.

Make sure they have a channel number in Digiguide. Plus have a look at the XML file to see if they are there or not.

These new channels do not have a channel number in digiguide. I am going to add one. Thank you rickgillyon !

Its possibly an install new version of Sage weekend. At the same time, I'm probably going to ditch wiz.bin and start fresh with Digiguide data and Stephanes importer.

- What are the relative merits of using the birtles grabber vs DG2XML at the moment?

- DG2Xml is producing 12mb vs 21mb from birtles grabber, any ideas why?

- I note DG2Xml puts the <new/> node in for premieres, is there a lua script change for the birtles grabber to add this or the correct premiere node?

One more thing... when using the Digiguide application, films are neatly divided into sub-categories e.g. Action, Comedy, Horror etc. These sub-categories don't appear in XML output from DG2XML or birtles grabber, is it not accessible?

My grabber may be formatting the xml differently, e.g my grabber uses spaces to create indentation, maybe dg2xml uses tabs or doesn't indent at all?

Yes, it doesn't indent at all; there didn't seem much point. However, I'm pretty sure the reason is that the RT programme descriptions are obscenely long

Nick.

The comparison was for both grabbers getting Digiguide data, hence my surprise at the difference in size.

Whoops, didn't notice that! In which case that's an awful lot of white-space!

WRT your other question about categories; no, that information is not present. There is no information in DG that is not extracted and properly tagged by DG2XML.

Regards,

Nick.

Disappearing post

I posted a pretty well explained and concise post, supported by screenshots asking for help with DG2XML which has disappeared...

Basically, my XML file which I am exporting from Digiguide using XMLTV GUI only contains some extra information, namely credits, previously shown, category and subtitles type. But never picks up detail about audio or video (widescreen, high definition, stereo etc.) I have checked I have the latest version of DG2XML.

Any help much appreciated

You could either try using DG2XML for your grab, or make sure you have the latest version of XMLTV GUI. Effectively they are different programs doing a similar thing, and only a very recent XMLTV GUI got the extras without modifying the software. I'm using XMLTV GUI and I get all that stuff.
