I think they will have a new official release today or in the next few days, possibly v6.3.5.

There's a heatsink on it so that might be kind of tricky.

AC3 Volume Levels?

Stanger (or someone else who already has a new extender),

How well does the new extender handle the volume level difference between SD audio and AC3? I've always had to use AC3Filter on my PC client, but that always seems to need tweaking. I sure hope that the audio on the extender is balanced somehow.

All I can say is it handles it the same way my Client did, ie it doesn't, my surround processor decodes AC3 and I've never had a problem with levels in that setup.

Placed my order for two yesterday. It amazes me though.. I wonder if the people who use microsoft media center know what they are missing? I mean, I went from MCE 2005 to sage, and then tried mce vista with xbox 360 extender. It was a horrible experience! Slow menus, loud 360, no divx/xvid in MCE extender, no ripped dvd playback, stupid interface, and now with their extenders coming out with no ripped dvd playback, and expense I am so glad I ran into sage.. thank goodness for that rainy day when I started experimenting with other home theater pc software! Now that the HD extenders are out, I can actually sleep, I got 10 hours yesterday! Yippie!

Mo!

In BrentEvans blog, he mentions a bundled package that would allow you to buy the HD Extender AND SAGETV for $250 (a savings of about $20). I don't see any options for this on the Sage Store.

Does anyone know if Sage is going to actually offfer this bundle? Or was it something that got scrapped.

Thanks,
Brian

I wonder if Sage will issue some kind of coupon who ordered HD100 separately to get the applicable discount when they buy also the server.

Wow, okay, we've been without power here in Oklahoma since Sunday, and I figured, well, just great, HD Extender released on Monday, probably sold out by Tuesday.

Power was back on early this morning, and I couldn't believe it, still in stock. Thanks for not running them out guys...

Now, my only question, what happens when you use an HD Extender with a non-standard computer monitor? I have one that is like 1050. Will it output 1080, and let the monitor figure out what to do with it, or scale everything to 720, or is this something I select?

I never saw this answered? I did a search in this thread, and the FAQ threads but maybe I missed it.

My present TV only has DVI, and Component inputs. I had a DVD player that would upconvert over both DVI and Component but it died. The ubercrappy LG I bought to replace it only had HDMI and about 75% of my DVD's wouldn't play via an HDMI>DVI cable on my TV.
So until I scare up the $$ to buy a new HDTV with HDMI inputs I'm stuck with this old DVI and 480/1080i (no 720, no 1080p) HDTV.

I'll try the HDMI-DVI cable on the HD extender, but I'm not holding out too much hope that it will work with my TV.
It very well could be the TV. Using the LG DVD player I'd lose picture but the sound (through the AV receiver) kept going. If I unplugged the HDMI from the DVD player and plugged it back in the picture would reappear for a few seconds and then disappear again. It didn't matter whether I had the DVD player set to 480 or upconvert to 1080i, it would lose picture on the majority of my disks. So I am using it with the component inputs on the TV now, but the DVD doesn't upconvert over component, only HDMI.

What's the question? Yes it does 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p over HDMI or Component out of the box, and will convert anything it can play to whatever you have selected.

D'oooooh Yes, that was basically the question..... Can it upconvert to 1080i over composite?

Man, can I make yesterday a "do over"? <sigh> I meant component, thanks.

On a brighter note, I just checked my tracking # info on the UPS website:

WATERTOWN,
CT, US 12/13/2007 4:14 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY

Question Fill, Source or zoom??

Unfortunately MOST of my content is the good old SD 4:3 variety and I watch the video in the "FILL" mode.. this stretches it out a bit, but it fills my modest sized 16:9 television.. can't stand to watch it with the sides blacked out...

Anyhow.. the HD Extender, which works great BTW (man, was that a LONG firmware update or what!!!), seems to always revert to 'Source'.. I can change aspect ratios easily enough.. with the "Option" option, or the "Aspect" button on the new remote.. BUT... is there any way to force the extender to always use FILL? If I did always force FILL, would that be an issue if the source actually was 16:9?

Thanks in advance!!!

Have you tried setting Fill in Detailed Setup -> Multimedia?

That option isn't visible to me in SageMC, but if I switch back to the stock STV I see it.. and yes, I switched it to 'FILL' and turned off the option to dynamically change video to source (not sure of the wording there)..

Do I need to do this, perhaps, at the server instead of, or in addition to, the HD Client?

I'm tempted to clean house.. maybe uninstall SageTV altogether and start from scratch.. there is a lot of stuff in there that is left over from things I've tried and removed or altered.

I assume if I did this, all I'd have to save is the wiz.bin file?

That would be a drastic thing to do, so if I can get this to work now, I'll be lest tempted to do it!
