Ok I think I'm getting somewhere now.

I uninstalled xmltv importer. To do this I had to delete the folder manually then run the install again and choose repair so that it knew it was installed (even though I just installed it again not 10 minutes ago). Then run the install again and choose "Uninstall". Then manually go through and delete the extra guide data folders it had created in both the SageTV and my documents and settings folders, because the uninstall didn't do this.

Then reinstall it, again.

I ran through the wizard and it seemed to set things up right. I got a step further this time with the wizard and it allowed me to pick my lineup - woohoo!

So I set up my second tuner (same physical card in the pc) and configured it the same way.

But now I see duplicate channels. Well, they're not quite duplicates, and they don't show all the guide data, but they do show some stuff in the future:

Hey Frumbert,

I've seen the whole bizarre remap system cause all kinds of problems. There appears to be two points that the system refers to to get it's idea of what channel number (logical) maps to which frequency (physical). The tunername.frq files have a straightforward way of mapping a logical channel number to a frequency. It's worth checking that these look the same. If not shut down sage and copy the good one over the wrong looking one.

Once the channels in the tunername.frq files have been discovered/set/whatever there is another layer of abstraction/obsfucation available...

In your sage.properties or sageclient.properties (depending upon whether you're running in service mode or not) you will find sections epg/channel_lineups/ and epg/lineup_physical_overrides/. These seem linked in some way though I've not been able/bothered to trace the logic here. Perhaps someone else can step in and explain it.

This is fair enough (probably) In my case as I actually do need to remap some of my channels for the stb/usbuirt setup though I wish it was easier to follow what is going on here. I'm probably being dense.

To reset the remap guff for my digital channels I've found it necessary to go to the channel setup screen, select remap for each channel and if the option is present select "reset to default logical channel number" &/or "reset to default physical channel number" (or similar, I can't see these options at the moment as I've reset them ) rinse and repeat...

NB: I've noticed that these options are only available in the channel setup/remap dialog if you've reset to the default stv. Something completely different comes up if you're trying this under sagemc.

Re: the partial program info I think that I recall this happening to me before and that it just fixed itself over time. Has this gotten better? When working with the xml import stuff it's worth knowing that when the Stephane importer runs it only queues show info for later processing in Sage. The actual integration of this info is run on a separate schedule. You can see the info on last/next guide update from the Settings Screen (where you can see software version, java version, hostname etc).

To force an update you can either use nielm's webserver plugin or go to the channel config screen and toggle a channel off then on (and select done).

Update: I installed an additional NovaT-500 card last night and after running the detect on the tuners in this card had to go and reset each of the channels so that they would use the ones from the lineup/tunername.frq file. Here's a before pic:



Note that after running detect the channel names are those supplied by the dvb broadcast and there is frequency info displayed eg: [4115-547-674-3]

I remapped each of the detected channels to default:



The after pic shows the descriptions from the xml lineup rather than the detected ones.



This of course relies on me having performed a scan without any lineup first, noting the channels that I want to use, setting up the lineup in the xml importer and using that lineup.

I haven't gotten around to upgrading my setup to 6.2 yet. Does anyone know if there are any changes to the way that detection works in 6.2?

Hey Frumbert,

Have the extra not quite the same channels disappeared now? What I was trying to get at with all the stuff about resetting to default logical/physical numbers is that I thought that some of these mapping may have been present on one or the other of your tuners and could cause the symptoms that you describe.

I noticed something on ICE TV that might explain the missing bits in your guide here.

Why are my HD (high definition) guide listings 'Unknown' or missing?

The High Definition (HD) guides that we supply are designed to be true representations of which shows are to be shown on these channels in HD. The gaps that are shown are periods where either a demo loop will be shown or where a Standard Definition shows are being shown that have been up-converted. If we don't have any information about what will be HD we take the safe approach of saying "unknown" and if the whole day's guide is "unknown" we don't generate a listing for that day at all. This is a result of previous experience where people would unexpectedly miss their recording because it was not broadcast in HD for one reason or another. However the situation with HD seems to be improving so we are reviewing our protocol, so any suggestions on a foolproof strategy are welcome.

I guess this means that you need to map in the sd channels as well or just assign the sd guide to the hd ones.

1. Yes they have, and all I had to do was not fiddle with it for two days.
2. Seems to have worked. Took a couple of imports to pick it up but it all looks good now.

Perhaps now would be a good time to ZIP up the whole folder and pop it somewhere safe. So when it inevitably dies I can start from a working copy.
