Hey, Can I have some remote help please!
(Sorry that should read remote help)
Hi all, new here, so hello Right recentley I purchased 'Hauppauge WinTV PVR150 MCE' Tv Card. I installed the card with no problems, howeverm getting the remote control to work for the last 4-5 days has been a no-go! I insert the transmitter into the USB Slot and as it does it says what its found, in this case its a 'MCE TRANCEIVR Emulator device 2006' and then pops up the found new hardware box and this is as far as I have been able to get. No drivers work! just leaving a little exclimation mark next to it in Device Manager: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...va/problem.jpg Now a google search for me has show that only one search brings up what mt computer found, that being the 'MCE TRANCEIVR Emulator device 2006'. And that one person seems to be having the same problem, only thing is, he is not english so I do not understand it at all, but I will link it anyhow just incase someone does here: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/...ssages/1224309 Now, That is the only thing I can find on the net about 'MCE TRANCEIVR Emulator device 2006' so I'm startin to wonder if the thing is actually working as it should be. And also a link to the remote if it helps: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/DSC00153.jpg Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated! Thank you Last edited by mufc4eva; 06-17-2007 at 10:42 PM. |

What OS you running? XP Home?
If so, the MCE remote isn't natively supported like in XP Pro or MCE. YOu need to DL some drivers to get it to work. Check out this thread, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...ght=mce+driver

You can get them with the following procedure. 1) Download the Windows Update "Update Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (KB912024)" from microsoft. It is available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en. 2) run the downloaded executable. When the Hotfix install wizard appears on the screen... STOP!! do not continue with the installation wizard. 3) run notepad, and open the file named kb912024.log that is located in your windows system directory (usually c:\windows\). 4) on the fourth line of this file you will find the path to the update executable (ie: c:\0d5602f37f532d2198a162164df6\update\update.exe). 5) Open Windows and navigate to the root of this path (ie: c:\0d5602f37f532d2198a162164df6). There you will find SP2QFE. Navigate to this directory. 6) In the SP2QPE directory you will find the irbus.sys file. In the "ip" directory will contain the irbus.inf file. 7) Copy these two files to a temporary directory of your choice. 8) Go back to the Hotfix install wizard and select CANCEL. The wizard will ask if you are sure... answer yes. The wizard will clean up after itself. You now have the native Microsoft eHome receiver drivers needed to install your MCE compatible remote. Then: 1. Obtain a copy of the irbus.sys, irbus.inf, and irbus.pnf files from a Windows XP Pro SP1/SP2 install. 2. Copy irbus.sys to c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and c:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386 3. Copy irbus.inf and irbus.pnf to c:\WINDOWS\inf 4. Reboot 5. Plug in your remote IR receiver sensor (do not plug it in before this). I'm not sure what more information you need. Gerry

VID_0609&PID_0334 - Driver Works at last!!
i also needed to spent several 'plesent' hours on this matter.
but evantualy the remote (receiver) is functioning. (you will have to enable the 'Show hidden files' option in order to see the inf directory) go to c:\windows\inf\ directory and locate file named irbus.inf add this line to the file: %USB\VID_045E&PID_006D.DeviceDesc%=IrBus, USB\VID_0609&PID_0334 under [MicrosoftHw] item now just go to the 'MCE TRANCEIVR Emulator device 2006' device and click update driver -> search automaticaly (the default option) and your done! another thing is that i also have a 'sticky' keys behaviuor on the remote, so i will try to use the last drivers (with the same manipulation for the inf file) that Gerry mentioned. also look at this : support.microsoft.com/kb/331913 i think this patch can update the device firmware, if you have XP with SP2 you can check the firmware version on device manager, right click on the ir device (under USB) -> properties -> Details and scroll to firmware my device show ver 01.00, but i will try to install xp mediacenter and apply the patch. bongi. |

Hi Bongi,
I seem to have got as far as you have. I have the sticky behaviour and tried every driver around, nothing worked. Haven't tried a firmware upgrade (or downgrade possibly) on the receiver yet. Did you have any luck on this? Willem |

okay so,
I have installed ALL updates for XP MCE 2005. I am running XP Pro Media Center Edition w/ SP2. Ive got a HVR-1800 with the MCE remote that came with the unit. No matter what i try i cannot get this remote to friggin work! It just says in device manager "MCE Tranceiver Emulator Device 2006". When i install ir.exe or try to run ir32.exe i get this error: http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/5027/26227404ue9.jpg Anyone got any ideas? Im calling Hauppauge on Monday but i doubt they will do anything for me... |

If you have the MCE remote, then you aren't supposed to use the Hauppauge IR software, ir.exe. That is if you have a Hauppauge remote.
When you installed Sage and it asked you about your remote, did you tell Sage you had the MCE remote? As long as you have the MCE drivers installed, and if device manager shows it loaded without an exclamation icon, it should be installed already. So, just picking the MCE remote in Sage should take care of the IR receiving stuff, but if you want to use the IR blaster portion, you will need to do a search for MCE blasting. There are a couple threads that should be able to help you.

Let me re-phrase. the HVR-1800 has a MCE remote that comes with it and is MIcrosoft Certified. WHether or not that is a MCE remote or a Hauppauge remote i have no clue. Im using Media Center for TV and not SageTV. But this isreally the only thread i could find on the web that had any sort of help regarding my issue.

OK, if you say its an MCE remote, and it is lsted in device manager as an MCe transceiver, I'd say it's probably an MCE remote. Does it look like something like this, http://www.pcalchemy.com/product_inf...emote-controls ?
If you are using Windows Media Center and need help for that, www.thegreenbutton.com would be a good place to start.

Figured out that the IR receiver i got with the hauppauge unit is not compatible with Media Center 2005.
If your Remote looks like this: http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggIma...116-015-11.jpg and you are having connection issues or remote recognition issues check the bottom of your IR Receiver. RXX6000-0141E or the like. you need to contact hauppauge to get a new one. its not compatible with xp. |

MCE TRANCEIVR Emulator Device 2006
Bongi,
I have tried adding the line %USB\VID_045E&PID_006D.DeviceDesc%=IrBus, USB\VID_0609&PID_0334 as suggested but I get an error that it was created after 95 possibly I am putting it in the wrong area. If you could post a screen shot or more specific info that would be greatly appreciated |
