Hi
Any luck with updating the Linux release? I just got an HD-PVR and USB-UIRT and can't seem to get it to work at all. I was able to capture the IR codes on my desktop window's box and create a .ir file, but not sure how to proceed. I have been reading about gentuner etc, but there don't seem to be any straight forward steps/faqs. HDPVR works for input in SageTV in Linux (Docker), but I'm stuck watching the default channel with no channel changes.

Thanks
Dave

I have the USB-UIRT working well with an HD-PVR on Linux with the latest version 9 release. So it definitely can function within Linux!

That said, let me say that I know very little about Linux and undertook the effort to replace my age old Windows SageTV server box with a Linux SageTV Server box. One of the very challenging steps was getting the USB-UIRT working. So if you search for threads with my posts over the past month or two you are likely to find one or two long threads with me asking dumb questions and getting great answers as I slowly moved through to success. If you cannot find what you need feel free to ping me and I will try to offer additional input but again, I am an EXTREME LINUX NEWB.

Best of luck!

It's my goal to provide some sort of out of the box USB-UIRT experience with unRAID/Docker image... but, unfortunately, I'm out of service (in terms of sagetv development) for the next 30 days or so.

I know it's about $35 more expensive than the USB-UIRT, but has anyone ever looked into what changes would be needed to use an IP2IR device with Sage?

https://www.globalcache.com/products/itach/ip2irspecs/

Not only would no driver be required, but the device would not need to be physically connected to the SageTV server, meaning the cable boxes could potentially be located elsewhere in the house. It also has three clearly identifiable jacks for the IR emitters to plug into, instead of having to mess with little Radio Shack splitters for the USB-UIRT. There is even a wifi version for a little extra $$$, in case running a network cable is too difficult.

Coming from the DIY microcontroller market, I have a very hard time understanding how they reach that price point. I can build devices that can do everything that thing can do and lots more for less than $15. That's with a custom PCB, microcontroller, unique MAC address, 10Mbit Ethernet, IR sender jack (or jacks if you really want), mounted IR receiver and ~10 millisecond response times. It appears to just be a dumb terminal that takes bits and converts them to IR pulses.
