But then how does one skip or scan video playback in SageMC when using a remote? It seems like a universal function that would be included. I see a place to do key-mapping for FFWD and REW in the SageMC settings area, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the left/right remote buttons. I appreciate your help. Thanks. MB

The arrows (up, down, left, right) are typically used for navigation. In the OSD, the up/down buttons are used to activate the miniguide and left/right are used for comskip. I hope that clarifies things a bit. Aloha, Mike |

Somehow, in my OSX install of SageMC, everything works fine except the typical skip that you mention above that I am familiar with from the standard STV. The OSD is not up when I attempt to skip. My FFWD and REW buttons are dead when it's just straight video playback. When I toggle back to SageTV3, everything is good. MB

Do you have any imports installed? If you do, go back to the base SageMC_169.xml STV and see if it still happens there. Also, check to see if you have smooth ffw/rew enabled (options menu in video OSD). If so, try disabling it. Lastly, you can try enabling debug logging (see flachbar's sig in the main SageMC thread for a link to instructions), play a video and try using ffw/rew a few times, and then post the log file here. Maybe something will turn up. Aloha, Mike |

Cool thanks. At least I know that my SageMC is misbehaving. I will be able to supply more info (and maybe a log file) later when I get home and can PLAY!

Unless I am missing something here, isn't it just a matter of going to the 'Commands' setup in the Detailed Setup and mapping your left/right nav buttons to Skip Fwd.Skip Back ? Dirk |

That's good info. I poked around with it in detailed settings when I discovered that skip wasn't functioning, but never got it to work. Maybe I'll check it out in depth later tonight. I expected that skip would have been the default behavior (like the standard STV), rather than having to manually set it up. I'll report back once I'm sitting in front of it.
