I found this forum when googling for wireless MVP problems - looks like I might have come to the right place!

I am not using Sage at all, just trying to debug a wMVP problem. What I have found (and the symptoms look the same as some other people but not all) is that the wMVP WEP implementation is incompatible with the Netgear DG834G wireless access point/router. I have seen suggestions that there are other access points which have the same problem. My wMVP works perfectly (with the MVP server software) if any one of these is true:
- wired connection via DG834G
- wireless connection via DG834G but with WEP disabled
- wireless connection via Linksys WAG54G with WEP enabled

Unfortunately, it does not work with the DG834G with WEP enabled!

I am not sure if anyone else has done this kind of testing but I have not found it when searching (and apologies if it has). This sensitivity to access point model might explain some of the inconsistent results that are reported - "mine works, mine doesn't work" - and why sometimes throwing in a bridge or range extender or whatever makes a difference, especially when it's a different make. It's not a signal strength thing - it's just a flaky WEP implementation!

Netgear wireless routers are, compared to others, problematic in general. As are D-Link. Inconsistent all to heck among model changes. Many lemons.

Netgear makes great Ethernet switches.
