I'd be interested in the easy firewire capture solution as I'm going to attempt to do that in the upcoming months.

Sounds interesting. I'm planning on trying this out in the next couple of days, I have more than enough old computers and a 180 to play with. Multiple tuners and firewire support would be the biggest improvements for me. Thanks for the effort.

The biggest reason for me to do this is because I dont want to spend $150 on a device if I can reuse some hardware I have laying around and get similar results.
Also, I dont even know how many QAM channels I will have, so with this I have 14 days to see if I have any to tune in. When all is said and done all I am out 25 cents for a CD.

FYI - on the trail for Fusion HDTV5 Lite it - uses the BT878 frontend chipset instead of CX23882 like their other cards. We will hopefully have a build to test shortly.

Easy and reliable firewire capture would be something that might interest me.

This may be beyond what the developers want the product to do, but the ability to write directly to local drives might also be a good selling point. I love the idea of running a stripped down system with no hard drive, but the thought of dropping in a couple of drives for extra storage when my Sage server runs out of drive bays would also be appealing.

So you are looking for a EVO-SOFT device + NAS? interesting....

Yeah, I think it would further differentiate your product from the HDHomeRun and make it a more cost effective solution for some of those who don't already own a QAM tuner. I think a lot of people jumping on the HD bandwagon for the first time will quickly realize they need a lot more storage. If it could write directly to the drives and reduce network traffic it might also benefit those on 100Mbit networks. Especially if they intend to run multiple tuners and stream to multiple clients.

Cool Channel Mapping?

Haven't heard anyone say they actually got this working---I am having trouble with mapping channels. I receive about 14 qam channels very clear in the EVO app but can't view (or tune) them in Sage. I have a qam hdtv so I got the channel #'s from that--is that correct?

Example:

645-002(EVO) 94-2(from hdtv) 721(from Zap2it) = HDNet

I've tried mapping 645-002 to both 94-2 and 721 and will not tune channel.
(The program guide works perfect and now I can see what is scheduled on my qam tv channels.)

I know this has been discussed on HDHomerun thread but they have some different apps they use I think(?).

Thanks for any help.

Randy

Actually all of our testers came right from this forum Kirby and Insomniac were instrumental in testing. (I had to throw out some props )

two things -

1. Are you starting the SageTV Encoder from the EVO Console?

2. and if so make sure SageTV app/service are not up and running before you start. SageTV will not see the SageTV Encoder and flag it as not functioning. Keeping it from tuning.

Also send me the log.txt file from the installation folder @

Thanks, will do. I do see the EVO tuner in Sage Source setup. My question is where do I get the correct channel #'s to associate with the EVO channels? Do I use the channels from my hdtv qam tuner?

Thanks.

I dont want to muddy the water any, but I will attempt to interrpret.

You can assign whatever channel numbers you want to the evo device, as long as you assign the same exact numbers on your sage lineup. while configuring your sage lineup, you will need to remap the appropriate channel to the same channel that you assigned on EVO.

Just an FYI:

This complication is on all QAM devices. Cable providers have not made it easy. Manual mappings is all we got right now.

I.

Thanks for help!!

Did what you said and put in my qam channels (from my qam hdtv) on BOTH the EVO and Sage source setups.

Thanks again to both of you for the help.
