I would still at least 'try' v.6 considering it will run in a 'trial' mode for free until he determines if it will work for him. Although v4 and up did support MVP's, that didn't include the wireless ones which are fairly new (and v.6 does indeed have better support for).

He should also be using some type of drive imaging software (as anyone should who plays with these types of toys) and go ahead and install the Hauppauge software to determine if it is a Sage issue or not. Why waste anyone's time until at least 'this' has been determined?

Second time this thread I've heard "wasting someone's time"; whose time is he wasting?

Just wondering if I'm missing out on some support fundage opportunities

By 'wasting time' I mean that he (the OP) can easily determine if his problem is with Sage or with his hardware (it really could be either) simply by trying the Hauppauge software first. If it is bad hardware, everyones time troubleshooting a 'Sage' problem has been wasted.

I wasn't meaning anything bad, just trying to point out some logical steps to try to resolve his problem as quickly as possilble.

Sorry, I forget that teasing on a usergroup sometimes doesn't translate well

I totally misread the suggestion about the Hauppauge software; I read that as an extension of "why don't you upgrade?", which is obviously NOT what you meant.

I agree; he should try the Hauppauge software to see if the wMVP will work at all; very easy to disable when he's ready to go back to working with Sage.

I've tested all these options and I can say : This is truly a STV Software problem!
My story is: I have nearly 5 month ago buyed a Haupauge wireless MVP and first of all was a test of all features with original software from hauppauge - using wireless LAN! Everything - also streaming of video - works very fine.

But later I wanted more and have read about a product called "Sage TV". So I've tried this: Uninstall my Hauppauge Server SW from PC and installing my new Product: Sage TV V5.0 -> Nothing works! The Application V5.0 will not loaded into my MVP (by wire AND wireless - the same problem).
Then I read many hints about MVP and STV and I've tried the upgrade to V6.0

After this upgrade, the application was loaded into my MVP - but only when I'm using a LAN cable connection :-(

I have every Beta version (of V6) that was coming up installed on my system and each version was a bit better concerning this wireless MVP point. Currently I use V6.0.18 and now the application will be loaded wireless into the MVP, but video streaming (watch life TV or MPGs from my archive) is not possible because the video stops and hangs nearly every second.

For my tests with Hauppauge original SW and STV I've allways used exactly the same Hardware !

My question to the STV developer (I've sent this question also to STV support weeks ago) : Have you really tested wireless MVPs with STV ?

I really want STV ! I've payed 99$ for the MVP+STV Package but it will not work !

Can - please - anybody tell me an idea ?

Robert

This suggests that your wireless signal is not strong enough, and/or not sustainable.

This also suggests that your wireless signal is not strong enough, and/or not sustainable. I had exactly the same problem.

Try using a wireless extender, or hard-wiring your MVP to a wireless access point. This solved the problem for me.

Steve.

Try putting the wMVP in the same room as your wRouter. This should tell you if its just a wireless strength signal problem.
