Loading ETVI on client

Can someone point me in the right direction. I downloaded the STVI for my version 6 client.

I have a share setup from my server as \\basement_server\Tv Recordings

When I logon my client it connects to the server fine and I can see all my recordings.

I loaded the STVI which I downloaded V1.3.4 and moved the Jar file under the Jar directory. I restarted the client and I still see NO CS. I then mapped a drive on the server as drive E Tv Recordings because the drive on myserver is E and thought maybe that had something to do with it. From the server comskip works great and the same STV im trying to put on the client. I made sure its enabled.

Any ideas why the client cant see the .edl files which are in the same directort as the recordings on the server.

Thanks
Andy

The full path that the server sees the files and the path the client sees the files must be identical.

ie: the path e:\my recordings\recording1.mpg must be the same on both server and client

so for your example you probably need to to map e: to \\basement_server\e$

Got it to work!

Thanks for the reply. I thought since my server was 11.1.1.155 and it was mapped to the client that that would of been good enough. But read another thread the mapping or UNC has to be exact. So I updated the hosts file added my basement server. Restart the client and its working as advertised

Thanks
Andy

My little contribution. These markers match the default Sage markers.

Love the plugin! Has anyone experienced an issue where the comskip occurs too soon when it runs on its own (rather than pressing left or right)? For example, my comskip seems to skip ontime in certain commercial spots but delayed or too soon in others. I know the ShowAnalyzer .edl file is correct because if I skip back or forward using the left or right button, the comskip plugin goes to the correct location in the file.

Any ideas why the timing is occasionally off? I appreciate any help.

I can't remember exactly where, but buried in the options for comskip is a setting to "pad" the start and stop points by X number of ms. you might check on that.

Unfortunately timeline navigation in SageTV just isn't very accurate in HD streams. It's not the plugin's fault.

As a result of this I've turned of the automatic skip feature and just manually skip using the arrow keys when a commercial starts (which solves half of the problem, at least).

A couple of questions
SD or HD recordings?
What version of comskip playback import?
Is it only the commercial start your having a problem with?
As hemicida suggested check the delay settings in Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Comskip Playback and depending on what version -> More Options

Updated the download with

(1.3.6)
- Changes to Skip delays to allow negative delay (start or stop skip earlier)
- Added option to manually run comskip on a video

The manual comskip can be run from the video options menu and pass parameters to an application/script

Parameters passed are:
%1 = MediaFile
%2 = Title
%3 = Episode
%4 = Description
%5 = Channel Number
%6 = Duration
%7 = Date
%8 = Category
%9 = SubCategory

Setup is via the Comskip Playback Options

The modified version of the comskip.cmd batch file included allows setting different parameters based on the channel a show was recorded on.

Upgraded Sage and Arrows no longer work for CS

Hi All,
Upgraded to latest RC (6.1...) and also to Java 1.6 and now my left/right arrows no longer work to us ComSkip. Had to reprogram Custom4 and 5 to use. I am using a fairly recent Comskip Playbace stvi (1.2.4 I think). Any ideas as to what I could try?

Thanks, Randy

JREkiwi,
I have been using this stvi on and off, but I keep running into a problem that I havent seen discussed thus far.

When I am watching a program and the plugin skips a commercial segment that is off by a bit, I will press the left button to go back to the beginning of the commercial segment to watch what I missed. Problem is that it will again skip at the same point. previously the plugins done by me and others would hold off the autoskip thread for 12 seconds and then see if the playback had passed a skip point. If it had not,then it would skip when it reached it. If it had passed the skip point, it would continue playing. I hope this is a clear description of the problem.

I have now reproduced it on two different systems. I am looking into the cause and I wanted to get some insight from you and see if you are experiencing the same thing.

thanks.

UPDATE: This problem does not appear if the offsets are set to 0 milliseconds. I set them both to 3000ms and it is present.

I am running 6.0.19.120 with Java 1.4.2.11.

sundansx, thanks, I had not noticed it, but I can see that there is a problem even with the offsets at 0. I'll do some work on it.

OK, after looking at things a bit, I think I might have a solution for this. I am not sure why my plugin did not have the problem, but it seems to share code in this area. I made this change in your stvi and I could not reproduce the problem on a show that was previously showing a problem. It might introduce other problems, so I will wring it out a little.

Code:
on line X (I wish Studio had line numbers):
(pos > startLocation) && ((pos - 10000) < startLocation) && (pos < stopLocation) && GetProperty("commercial_auto_skip", false)

should be:
(pos > startLocation) && ((pos - 10000 + startdelay) < startLocation) && (pos < stopLocation) && GetProperty("commercial_auto_skip", false)
As per malores original design, the check for a skip (if left was pushed) would wait 12 seconds. It would then compare the current position to see if it was within 10 seconds of the commercial start. I think I should have added the startdelay to the 10 seconds since the commercial start reference it is comparing it to is the adjusted start, not the original start.
There, clear as mud..covered with a tarp..

Tell me what you think..

sundansx, With some more testing, that other change doesn't work with negative delays. This one works on big, small, positive and negative delays and fixes the problem of the skip left not actually going back to where it skipped from.
Code:
location = If(num % 2 == 0, location, location - GetProperty("commercial_stop_delay_ms", 0)*1)
changed to:
location = If(num % 2 == 0, location + GetProperty("commercial_start_delay_ms", 0)*1, location - GetProperty("commercial_stop_delay_ms", 0)*1)

Hello all.
