I already had it disabled there...
Is there some way to turn on a debug mode for this, so perhaps we can see what it is trying to do? If there is some sort of timeout condition or something? Again, with the default STV, I have no lag issues... With only the auto recompression import, I don't have any lag issues, but with both or just the comskip import, I have lag issues... |

Can you try the 1.3.2rc version from the first post, if that's no good I'll add some debug code.

John,
I've loaded the latest beta from the 1st post now, and it is still lagging when I scroll through the recordings... Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks, Paul |

Make sure Comskip Files Icons is set to none. See how this works. If Not Ok If Ok, turn on Comskip Files Icons Try that If not OK, stop Sage UI and set debug_logging=TRUE in SageClient.properties. Ok - Loaded the default STV and imported this version. With the CS icons set to None, I didn't see any issues when scrolling up or down the list of files/directories.. So far, so good.
So, I turned CS files on. Scrolling still did give me the pauses (though they didn't seem to be as long). So, I stopped my Sage client then enabled debugging and restarted. I let it pause for me several times then exited and looked at the resulting debug file. I do see some areas where the thumbnail generation code is attempting to read files from \\nas\ directories, which is the old location that no longer exists.. Not sure why or how Sage is looking for the files there since that device is no longer on the network and everything that I can find in Sage that pointed to it has been changed to point to the local shares. When I first suspected this might be the problem I set an entry in the hosts file of the Sage machine pointing the name nas to 127.0.0.1 so that name would resolve quickly to an address that would respond so it would quickly fail, if we were waiting on timeout issues. Strangely, this doesn't appear to cause any problem when using the default STV or this one with the icons turned off. At any rate, there are several messages throughout that mention "hang detected", so I'm hoping this provides more insight to the problem. I'm thinking that when it tries to look for the CS file it may be looking for it on \\nas, since Sage somehow thinks that is where the file is... |

Paul, interesting.
The hang detected messages always occur, not a problem. It's trying to find the Icons from files on a number of shares on \\tivo All it's doing is some java calls to see if the comskip files exist, so maybe it's a bandwidth problem accessing random files or something weird with java. You could try the current java version download from java.com (1.5.0.11). I've found that to improve general speed of SageTV on my machine. I'll do a rewrite of the icon code which may help Are you using edl or txt files? John |

I tried the new Java and it did not make a difference...
But, that log file did help... It showed a recording that it could not generate a thumbnail for and noted that it was on the \\nas\ path. I went through and looked at all those shows (of that series) and none of them had a thumbnail... So, I deleted all those shows from Sage... Now, I don't have any problem scrolling up or down the recording list with the CS icon turned on. I'm guessing that Sage thought the file was on the \\nas\ path and even though it handled not being able to generate a thumbnail from that path without giving me a long wait for some sort of timeout, it appears that the CS icon code isn't as forgiving. Now that those shows are gone, all is operating normally. It is strange though, because the pausing over the weekend occured seemingly at random while scrolling through the list (not just for this show). Thanks for the help! Without that log code I might not have noticed it not generating thumbnails for that show. So, now I should be able to enjoy commercial-free programming.. Thanks again! |

I suggest you submit a bug report to sage and include that log. Sounds like a core bug

I was wondering why my SageClient was not seeing some of the .edl files and then I realized I made the mistake of not using a UNC path name when recording to a drive local to my Sage server. I changed the path but the Sage database still says the files are located on the local d: drive and the Client does not display the CS icon or commercial markings in the recordings.
Can I fix this for shows that are already recorded? Will future shows recorded on the drive local to the server have the .edl files accessible to my Client? All the more reason to keep as much data as possible on my NAS

I realize there's a separate command in the popup to "Delete Comskip Files", but would it be possible to have it so that deleting the recording itself would automatically delete the EDL files?

I can't speak for the CS STVi, but CSM or Dirmon2 can be set to delete comskip files when there is no corresponding mpg file. Works a treat for me.
