Good to hear it's working. Don't know why a restart would have made a difference, but it is a computer we're talking about, so obvious logic doesn't apply.

The left click is the same as using the OK/Enter button on a remote.
The right click is the same as using the Options button on a remote.

Ah! I don't use a remote, or a TV for that matter. I watch SageTV on the PC that does the recording. Thanks for clearing that up

You need to set up a program like dirmon2 that can monitor the folders and detect when the recording gets deleted so that the rest will then be deleted.

Only if you configure Dirmon2 or SJQ or whatever program you are using to kick off comskip to delete those files if the cooresponding .mpg doesn't exist. If you use dirmon2 it is at the bottom of the last tab.

John,

I believe that with the latest release of SageTV using the updated STV. I cannot seem to customize any of your plugins. The RW close media comskip etc... If I go to setup customize there is nothing there for any of your plugins.

Edit

John it appears the problem is with the updated STV..... the stv that comes with the install works perfectly. If i do the online update to the new STV I cannot customize. I posted something for Andy.

Three little questions/requests:

1 - Is there a way to use the "cuts" and the "scenemarkers" we have in the VPrj files?

2 - Is it possible to have a skip ahead button that stops on every marker and doesn't go straight at the end of a commercial or block (as the custom 4 does when going back)?

3 - Is it possible to have a custom button that would MANUALLY ADD a "scenemarker" in the Vprj file, when pressed?

Thanks.

Comskip is not working with TS files. I am using comskip80_025 to process the files and Comskip 154 to play back the files. Comskip works fine with mpeg2 files.

When processing a TS file, I get the following error:

Audio error
Audio error
AC3 sound at 48 khz
Video PID not found, available video PID's 1011

I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong, but I don't see the configuration menu for comskip after I installed it. Isn't there supposed to be one here: Detailed Setup>ComSkip Playback ?

JREkiwi (and others). I thought I'd point out a change I made to the comskip stvi that seems to drastically increase accuracy (especially when using 'slow-tuning' sources, like the HD-PVR and R-5000). Due to the difference in the actual recording length, and the Airing length, sage was throwing false numbers at the UI to make it appear to be a full length recording. this had the unintended effect of throwing off the skip points (to a greater degree on longer files, and linearly worse as you approach the end of playback). I posted the modified STVi over here. If you're so inclined, you can take a look at it, and feel free to make any corrections you feel are needed (as I'm REALLY not that comfortable in Studio).

Cool! Many of my recordings start about 15 seconds BEFORE the last commercial ends using SA1. Is this the fix for that?

Not quite sure what you are saying. Can you clarify the problem?

I am using SA1 for my .ts recordings. Before SA1, I was using the normal old SA which hit the commercials dead on with great accuracy.

Now with SA1, it is as if all commercial detections are off by about 15-30 seconds. When I hit the skip forward on the remote, I see the last ~15 seconds of the last commercial before the movie continues. It is as if the commercial detection was off by 15 seconds or so which I thought maybe it had to do with what you found?

This issue with HDPVR recordings specifically, but all recordings in general, is that SageTV applies a timescale adjustment so that the displayed duration of the recording appears as if it matches the scheduled length. In reality the recordings are shorter due to tuning. Particularly on the HDPVR where there is a default delay of 4 seconds applied.

The result of this adjustment made by SageTV is that comskip blocks will be off. This is more noticeable on HDPVR recordings because of the default tuning delay. If you've adjusted the tuning delay to be longer the commercial segments will be off by an even greater amount.

I'm not exactly sure why they put this timescale adjustment in there to begin with. Seems like its purpose only serves to fake the duration of the video to make it appear as if it is precisely the length of the schedule.

If it's the same problem we've been working with, The error is linear with the timeline. Commercials near the beginning of the recording will be closer to correct than towards the end. The 'fix' is what I was discussing a couple posts up. It's really kind of a workaround until sage fixes it in the next release.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what it's in there for.

Is there anyway to use the CSM generated files to cut out commercials when re-encoding?
