You could check the log file. If you produced one. I had no need for one so I turned that off. It's just another file to delete as fas as I'm concerned.

That may be for the default STV only.

I thought they would be in Settings-SageMC-Main-Global UI Options-Display-Icon Options but I don't see them as a choice.

What may work better for you is when you are looking at the Program Info screen of a recording use the info command on your remote (or control-I) and you will see the timeline with the skips as you cycle thru the optional info.

What I was getting at was that the only way I could get more than 1 instance of comskip.exe running is to have another exe in a different folder. It may just be me, but I haven't been able to get CSM and S-o-W to both call comskip.exe from the same folder and get 2 instances of comskip running. So I just copied it to another folder and have S-o-W call comskip from the 2nd folder.

left/right arrow not offered in HD-200 setup menu

I have been using comskip/playback for years and it is great. Just got my HD-200 and in the setup/customizations menu the option for left/right arrow for skipping (Custom 4/5 keys) is not offered. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Randy

Hi Gerry,
Yes, I scrolled down. I even downloaded/installed latest comskip playback version this morning. Not sure why I don't see it.

First!!! I must say I love this feature.

I mainly use this feature on one recording at a time.
I am familiar with DirMon, but often times I don't need the commercials removed from every recording.

Is their an option to schedule comSkip with the scheduling of a recording.
(like scheduling comskip per recording )

Most of my sports programs are watched after the fact and If there was an option like the padding option that would allow me to enable this feature per recording ... that would be nice.

Please forgive me if this has been discussed .. I tried going thru this thread, but its is really long

It's all just part of the main comskip options menu

If you post your SageTV3-x.XML file, I can have a look and see what's going on.

Thanks John. I do not have that on the HD-200 options menu. I did have it on my client pc. I imported the comskip playback stvi but maybe it is not the correct import. I'll check when I get home and find that file.

I got L/R arrow skipping working! For some reason I had a real old stvi file that loaded. I re-installed the latest version (again) and now I see the whole options menu with L/R skip available. Thanks John and Gerry for your help.

I just did a clean install of SageTV 6.5.6 (6.5.7 doesn't work with my Hauppauge 2250) and can't get the comskip playback options to show. I've had it working before. Any ideas? I'm using v1.5.4.

I got my HD200 extender a couple weeks ago, and have comskip installed on the server. From my understanding to install it on the extender, I just go to the extender and import the comskip playback STVi in the extender interface. But so far the extender doesn't show the comskip information or the menu option in the customize settings that lets you edit the comskip playback options. I used the same STVi on the server and the GUI there imports it fine and shows all the comskip information on the progress bars and CS icons. The funny thing is if you go into the Manage STVI plugins in the extender, it shows the Comskip_Playback.stvi in the list (only one so far). I have Forced a rebuild several times. What am I missing to get the comskip playback working on the extender?

Comskip Playback version 1.5.4
SageTV Beta V6.5.7 (also had tried with V6.5.6 with same results)
HD200 Firmware: 20081230 0

Thanks for any help, just feels like I am missing something simple.

Where did you look for the comskip options? Try to power off the HD200 (pull the plug) to make sure it relaods the STV. It works on my HD200 and HD100.

You know I have the same problem with my SD MVP Extender - I never could get the Comskip STVi working. Maybe I'll retry since I did upgrade recently to 6.4.

You are also better off choosing the original SageTV3.xml and use the plugin manager for each device. Don't use the same one on the server for all of the extenders. Start each extender fresh and choose the plugins you want. Sage will actually create the .xml file with the devices MAC address to keep them seperate. (Example: SageTV3_withimports_001d6a4xxxxx.xml) So you could add different plugins at each device.

Or, on the extender you could just select "SageTV3_withimports_SAGETV_PROCESS_LOCAL_UI.xml" as the SageTV application package. Then you only need to update imports in one location.

I will shortly put out a version that doesn't rely on the jar file for importing and uses the inbuilt SageTV import process. That should solve the problem of it not loading on extenders.

OK, tried the unplug to power off and plug back in: didn't work. Also tried unplugging and holding delete when plugged back in to reset: didn't work either. Still showed the STVi in the list and the STV with the MAC address in the name. So, I figured I would just start over and try it again.
  1. I Reverted the STV to use the default SageTV3.xml file.
  2. I went to the Manage STVI plugins page and selected the Comskip Playback.stvi and deleted it.
  3. I then went to the server and deleted the SageTV3_withinports_'MAC'.xml file for the extender just to be safe.
  4. I then went through the adding of the STVI on the extender again, clicking on force rebuild and reload STV file with plugins.

As soon as I went to look at the shows this time, with no restarting or anything, I saw all the CS icons and comskip now works. The only thing I did slightly different the first time was to let the STVI plugin manager 'Automatically prompt' me for the rebuild when I closed the window...I told it yes that time and later, multiple times went and Forced a rebuild, but nothing ever took for some reason.

Hope this helps someone. Age old suggestion, delete it, start over and try it again at least one time to see if it works.

Yeah I have it working now on my extender too. I swear I tried this before upgrading to 6.4, but hey I'm just happy it works. Loading just the default SageTV3.xml file was the trick after upgrade. A tip off should have been not having the manage STVI plugins section in the setup options. Thanks everybody.

Hi, I have this working on my SageTV server, working in my SageTV Placeshifter but cannot get it working on my SageTV Client. In the customize options I have the 'comskip playback options' and can change the options but when I go to my recordings there are no CS markers and when I play a recording there are no commercial markings in the timeline. Anyone have any ideas how to get this working? I've tried reverting back to default, reinstalling etc.

For comskip to work on a SageTV Client your video recording directories must be UNC paths (i.e. //server/video)
