I'm confused by this. You say you recommend Showanalyzer but you are using comskip. I thought it was 1 or the other. Can you use both? I am currently using comskip with Dirmon2 but getting audio errors. I also record HD.

Could you upload a short recording (say 50 to 100MBytes) that has the audio errors?

Erik,

I have. I am the same person you are working with on your site/forum. Look forward to hearing your response. Thanks again.

It is one or the other. But before I was only recording SD and Showanlyzer was great. With SA and nielm's webserver I could define stations that I didn't want SA to scan because there were no commercials. Once I moved into HD recording SA struggled a bit and I went back to comskip. Erik keeps making it better so right now I'm using comskip. If the pendulum swings the other way I may go back. But as new versions come out I always test one against the other.

OK, I found the bug.
Download build 101 from my server and test.

This should solve a lot of audio errors, also in HD content

This should be a big improvement for all people that record programs with multiple audio tracks (e.g.two languages) in a mpeg program stream (.mpg)

Anyone know how I can prevent 2 audio tracks or is this just something that comes from the cable provider and is unavoidable?

Its unavoidable because it is inside the digital stream you record.
However its not a problem anymore (except a little more space on the disk) so why bother

I just installed the latest update (stopped the service, copied the new files over the old, restarted the service, opened the client and imported the new STVi).

During the final step of importing the STVi, the client window went blank and the little circular "I'm busy" animation froze. After several minutes of this, I killed the client. Now the client just gives me a blank screen.

Any suggestions? I am using the latest 6.2 SageTV release.

Thanks,
Lee

Well, I couldn't leave well enough alone. Just did the same thing to my MVP, now it is frozen.

Just edit your SageClient.properties and for your MVP clients\xxxxxxxxxxx.properties and change the STV=xxxxxxxx line to point to another xml file ie:STV=C\:\\Program Files\\SageTV\\SageTV\\STVs\\SageTV3\\SageTV3.xml

Were you doing a clean import? or importing into an STV that already had an old version imported?

Thanks, that did the trick. I had not done a clean import. Would you mind updating the Install instructions in the first post to point out this pitfall? And thanks for the great work!

Many plugins are this way, not importable over themselves. Sometimes an import will be re-importable, but not always. SO, whenever one of the plugins I use has been updated, I always start over from the original STV that I'm using, either SageTV3.xml or SageMC_169.xml, and re-import all my plugins. I use flachbar's STVi importer to batch-import all my plugins. That way I get the cleanest import possible without any re-import issues.

Commercial Skipping Not Working

I'm a long-time user of SageTV and, until recently, had success with commercial skipping. At some point ( I don't know when), commercial skip simply ceased. I have tried everything I can think of, so I'm appealing for help.

Here's the details:

Running SageTV v 6.2.10 with SageMC 6.3.3c. Skip bars do not appear in the timeline. I have enabled showing them in the options.

Running Comskip Monitor in the background. It is working and producing every file I ask for in the recordings directory. I have at various times had it produce only txt files; only edl files; and both simultaneously. Nothing works.

Enabled commercial skipping in SageMC and the default SageTV3 STV's. Mapped comskip keys to the forward and back keys on the remote (don't know if they work since there are no commercials to skip)

Copied the various jar files to every place I can think of that Java might look for them, i.e. Sage, STV, bin\lib\ext, etc.

Rebooted several times, both warm and cold.

Changed from SageMC to other STV's including the basic, unmodified SageTV3.xml and reimported the stvi. Nothing....

At this point, no STV will do commercial skipping. I even enabled background skipping in the STV to see if that triggered any flags. The .txt file was written in the recordings directory along with the mpg, but it's as if the entire commercial skipping routines simply don't exist.

Can I determine if the various Java routines that enable commercial skipping are loaded and working? Is there an option in the Sage.Properties file that could be messing this up?

Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

LJSSageUser, the JAR files don't have anything to do with the actual skipping, but are required for importing the STVi. They only need to be in the JARS directory.

Is there any data in the edl/txt files that are being created?

for some reason i dont see the CS icon show up for some of my recordings. It seems that all the comskip txt files i have on recordings on my Z: drive show up and work correctly, but all the recordings on my V: drive dont show the icon in the recordings menu and dont have any markers on the timeline when i play the file.

the text files look good to me:
Code:
FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE 107854 FRAMES AT 2997
-------------------
1	266
21899	27765
44039	50350
62706	66311
68111	68416
77010	83981
92210	96716
97617	98070
107853	107854
what gives?
