Open the csm.ini file in notepad, and manually edit the paths for comskip.exe, and comskip.ini. That is how I had to get it work.

Well have been using CSM for the last week or so and its been great. How do I get it to work with compressed files though?
Also how reliable is it for you guys? It tends to miss the skips once in awhile. |

I have to read through and do some "minor" tweaking, it seems to cut away too fast ( I'm sure the scene ended most times, just the way it cuts makes you feel like you missed something ) and seems to come back too early alot.

Set
detect_method=11 to start with.

This is an old thread but what was the solution? I have Vista x64 and I can setup Comskip but when it tries to create the service I get an error.

You may have to run Comskip.exe manually once and make sure to give it permanent permission to run as Comskip does not have an embedded manifest
as required by Vista. Did you test if comskip runs when invoked manually?

When I try to run it manually a window opens up then closes right away. It doesn't looke like it runs at all.
Yes, it does not work. A window opens up then closes. I checked task manager and it is not running. |

It does run
that is how it should be when you start it without arguments. This is to check if vista allows it to run, Now drag and drop a recording on Comskip.exe or even nicer, ComskipGUI.exe and you will see Comskip do its job Then drag and drop a recording on Comskip.exe or even better ComskipGUI.exe

This is set in the comskip properties file correct and not the sage properties file?

Did you configure the service to run with a user that has a password? This is required for a service and the user should have admin privileges.

It doesn't look like the service ever gets created. I don't see it listed so I'm not sure how to configure the service.

i have a problem here. i just installed comskip and let it run on all my files overnight.
i then change a few settings by running setup.bat, and clicking "Finish" on the last page. the service restarts only to rescan all my files again!? why? what makes comskip decide to scan a file? or what files does comskip look for so that it doesn't scan a file it already scanned? thanks! |

Ran into a issue here. I recently converted from a straight server system to a server and client system, now I have lost my comskip features for my client. I haven't checked the playback directly on the server but I assume that the files there will playback just the same. Here is my current setup
Sagetv server, csm enabled, sage service is enabled, sagetv is not running. Sagetv client, sageMC, comskip features all enabled. |

For a client to use the comskip files it must be able to access them directly. You need to be using UNC paths for your recording directories and the account you use on your client must have permissions on your recording folders.

so where do I specify the UNC paths in sagetv client?
|
#259
|
||||
|

The UNC paths would be what you use for the recording directories rather than drive letters. I'm not sure this would fix it for recordings that have already been created, but I know it would work for the future recordings after the settings are changed.

Well I checked playback on the server and the comskip is working on it but those features are not being transfered over to my clients.
