Wouldn't that just be typical of M$ BS. Just like SP2 is real good at breaking bluetooth drivers; permanently for me.

My problem was exactly like mdnttoker had. I installed the new free xDrive software from AOL and that is what caused the virtual loopback driver on my ethernet card. I uninstalled that and everything is great again.

Multi-homed setup causing the problem...
I haven't been back to this forum for a while. But, I'm having the same problem again now. I noticed that polen noted that my MediaMVP had a 172.16.140 address and the sagetv server had a 192.168.15 address. I have a multi-homed setup (on those two subnets). Both are local area networks (my server's behind someone elses firewall). I assumed that sagetv would listen on both networks. The fact that I can connect with a shifter client on the 172.16.140 network seems to support that. But, perhaps I'm wrong and that's somehow causing the problem?
Does anyone know of a way to force sagetv to listen on a specific network adaptor or subnet? I only need it on the 172.16.140 address as the server acts as the DMZ for the 192.168.15 address. Thanks in advance, -Johnny |

maybe this will help - primary NIC in a dual-NIC XP machine. But beware, this is likely undone if you R&R a NIC
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894564/en-us abstract You may have several network connections that are connected to different networks. Or, you may have a program that uses the first connection in the network connections list. You may want to make sure that a certain network connection is at the top of the list. When you install Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 2000, the order of the connections may vary depending on how the network adapters are enumerated. You can use the methods that are described in this article to reorder adapters and bindings and to change the interface metric on the network adapters. This article describes how to perform the following tasks: Last edited by stevech; 11-14-2006 at 11:32 PM. |

I had this problem after a reboot as well. My issue ended up being the loopback adapter I installed for my UNC paths.
Turns out placeshifter server was using that loopback as its address. MVPs were freaking out. After removing the adapter all is well again.. Unless my router dies.. then im screwed.
