Dirk, it looks like there is a problem with the favorites excluder again with SageMC. In the last couple versions of SageMC, if you go into the favorites excluder menu and try to modify a specifc anti-favorite, all that happens is that a narrow menu button pops up on the top of the screen. The UI usually locks up, but once I was able to click on the button to clear it back to the excluder menu.

The excluder does it's job marking everything properly, and I can create new anti-favorites. I just can't modify an existing one.

To be honest, I haven't used the Anti-Fav plugin for a while, so some of the recent changes in SageMC might very well have broken something. I'll check it out when I get some time

Question

I just tried to install the Excluder for the first time and I can't get it to work. The FavEx menu items do show up when I add it via Dynamic Menus, but no items "stick" (show up) when I try to add any exclusion rule.

below is some of the debug output. it seems like something is missing from a JAR file. which is also confusing because there are no JAR files included in the v2.5 zip that's up for Favorite Excluder. I think I have the latest df_sageutils.jar (11/27/06).

any ideas? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

thanks!

Crap, I checked and there is indeed no jar file in the current download package...

Unzip and copy the attached jar into the JARs directory and restart the UI, I will update the download tonight.

Still no JAS files in the current download

I am tired of Sage's IR trying to record a show I have marked 'Not Like'. So I figured it was time to try this out. As the title of this post suggests, there is still no JAR files in the current download, and it seems the directions in the first post are highly outdated, but then again maybe I missed something.

The download only contains "favorite_excluder_2_5.stvi". How do I import this into SageMC, don't I need an .xml file?

just dl the JAR in post 84 and put it in the JAR folder.

Then rename favorite_excluder_2_5.stvi to favorite_excluder_2_5.xml and SageMC will import it just fine.

OK, I just tried that while waiting on a response. I think it is installed and working. I added the exclude log screen as a menu item as well. When I access this screen it does not use the background I specified in the SageMC settings.

Ok, set up the menu item to point to Favorites Excluder instead of the log screen. edit: you want to go to the main excluder screen so you can view/modify/delete previous exclusions, and you can go to the log screen from there.

And yes, the log screen is just a blue background, so nothing wrong there.

Sorry Karl, I swear I uploaded the new zip file including the JAR file back in February, but you are right I just checked and it was still the old version. I just uploaded it again, and this time I double checked by downloading it myself.

If you run into any other problems, please let me know.

The following properties can be used to configure the plugin:
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/enabled=true (enable/disable scanning)
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/lookahead=72 (recording lookahead, in hours)
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/run_interval=60 (scan interval, in minutes)
Are these still valid? My sageclient.properties doesn't look like this. Instead I have only two items:
Quote:
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/lookahead=72
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/scan=schedule
And it is not automatically scanning, I have to enter the log screen and press play to run a scan.

Have you restarted Sage to get the Jars loaded, and restarted the UI after you imported in the xml?

as for sageclient.properties, mine looks like this..
Quote:
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/enabled=true
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/lookahead=120
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/run_interval=60
plugins/df/favorite_excluder/scan=schedule

Yes I have multiple times. Although I only used the one JAR file posted above. I'll re-download the package Dirk uploaded and drop both jars into place and restart and see what happens. So what does the 'new' fourth property do?

I dunno why it won't start for you and add in the additional .prop lines. Maybe manually insert them and see if that helps.

Before you do that, check in Detailed Setup>Customize and see if there is a Favorite Excluder Options Tab. Maybe it just needs to be enabled there.

The "scan=schedule" line can be changed to "scan=intelligent recordings" or something like that. The excluder can be set to exclude favorites or IR suggestions, depending on what you need. I don't do any IR so I have it adjust my favorites for me as needed.

edit:

My original guess would be that you already had the second JAR in your system with SageMC installed, but maybe not. If you don't have the second JAR, then that could very well be why it won't autoscan and fully install, but you can trigger a manual scan.

Just trying this out for the first time to stop a keyword fave recording on a specific channel. Anyway, I installed, restarted, applied the stvi, restarted, went to my recording, right-arrow, Favorite Excluder is an option, click it and see the screen in the attachment. Erk. Any ideas where I went wrong?
