I can take a look at it, but I'm pretty sure that the time bar uses internal shape widgets rather than external graphics. If this is the case, it would have to be reprogrammed before any cosmetic surgery could be applied.

Aloha,

Check this if your graphics are not showing up properly

For anyone who is having trouble with the genre icons not showing up:

Open your sage.properties file (or sageclient.properties if you are using the service) and make sure the path in the following property line is correct.

Code:
mlbdude/weather_image_root=\\STVs\\SageTV3\\SageMCE
Mine was pointing to OriginalV2 instead of SageTV3. Once I made the change, the genre icons showed up properly. Don't forget to shut down SageTV first before editing the properties file so that any changes you make will stick.

Just a bit of background info: The weather_image_root property is used to set the rootPath attribute in the STV. This is apparently used in several places. So if it is incorrect, it could cause a number of problems. Hope this helps!

Aloha,
Mike

I just tried these, and they don't seem to appear on my system (Movies, Genres, correct?).

I checked the property weather_image_root, and it appears to be pointing to the correct location.

Did you ever see the original included genre icons show up in the 'My Videos' screen? All these problems seem really strange. I think kricker is having problems seeing the showicons and there are several cases of the genre icons not showing up. I have to wonder if there are some other leftover property settings from old SageMC installations that are messing things up. One thing you could try is temporarily rename your sage.properties file (or sageclient.properties, you know the drill) and let sage generate a new one. Then load SageMC v6.10 and see what happens. As long as you keep your backup properties file you can always get back to where you started. It might be worth a try.

Aloha,
Mike

Hi All,

The genre icon set has been updated to v0.2.
In this version I have added 5 more genres (Crime, Documentary, Film-Noir, Mystery, and War) to the set for a total of 21 genres. Enjoy!

Aloha,
Mike

Mine still dont work. Checked that one entry you suggested but it was ok. I really couldnt have left over MC entries though, could I, since I started with a clean install of 5.10, then 6.10 on top of that without ever runing Sage with 5.10.

I also tried erasing the properties files and re-generate them. No luck there.

And just for the record, several beers last night didnt help either!

Yes, I was one of the others that totally rebuilt their system on 6.10. Last week, I totally uninstalled everything, deleting the sagetv directory as well. I ran the default STV, set everything up, then switched to 6.10.

I haven't checked in My Videos yet...let me check.

Hmm, when I do by Genre, in My Videos, I don't get any, just a folder that says Unassigned...

Thats how mine were. I went into that folder and updated some via IMDB, and now have about 9-10 genres, but those still list the folder icon and not the awesome graphics by Mike.

LOL, I just did that, and now I have these huge squares, with Mikes little icon bar genre at the top. Cool.

Not sure that's how it's supposed to look...but?

Still don't show up in My TV...Movies.

Glad to hear you got them working! The icons were definitely made with the list view in mind. And I think the 'My Videos' section is the only place that is currently set up to use the genre icons.

I'm at a loss. Maybe you need to fly out here with your rig so we can both apply beers to the problem?

Aloha,

Ugh I havent a clue on this still.. I want my genre icons, and I want them now!! Two nights of trying the beer method have failed miserably!

Anyone with a working genre icon setup care to share the props file, or look at mine? I'm just wondering why I get nothing, not the original icons, not Mikes, in folder view or list view, in either My Videos or My TV/Movies. Argh!

*edit* for anyone that has working genre icons, do you also have logging enabled? if so, maybe could you look in your log file and see if there is any reference to genre icons at all? I didnt notice any in mine, but did see references to folder.jpg or something similar, but nothing specific to the GenreIcons folder, or the images inside it.

As you can see, I entered the My Videos area (video library) and set to both folder and list view, and nothing happened. But I wonder why its not trying to fetch the images at all. I was at least expecting to see it trying, and failing.

Hi,

I am still using the latest dev build posted by mlbdude and the icons work fine. My genre listview looks just like the screen cap posted by Mike.

You could try unzipping to the desktop and manually replacing the genre icon folder. I got both this and the unzip method to work for me.

Is there any way to make them much bigger? I would like them to pretty much fill the entire "bar" (probably not the right term) in the listview.

We have an older version of photoshop if that would be needed for editing, but I have almost no experience with it.

TIA

Jesse

We are planning to look into this once flachbar gets back. It will require some changes to the STV.

Aloha,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Please do not take my request as a criticism! They are a huge improvement just the way they are. Thanks again for all your efforts.

What happened to flachbar?

Take care,

Jesse

He had an overdose of vacation (flachbar).

Kirby, I wonder if it has anything to possibly do with icons being enabled or disabled. Maybe we should compare prop files. I'll also compare, if you send it to me (or post it).
