I do know that back on 6.10, Dirk had me use that 6.10a version which then made Genre's work, and thats why I was wondering if that same issue is in 6.11, but I would assume Dirk kept that fix in place.
Ahh...I love the smell of Germane in the morning. I just love deposition system maintenance days!

Ok, now that I'm mostly recovered, I can at least answer this. I personally went through Dirk's code line by line in the 'My Videos' section when I was having this exact same problem on Sunday. The fix is definitely still there.

I have a thought. Could you install SageMC (and the icons) on the server and try loading it in the UI (on the server)? If they show up there, then there may still be an issue with referencing the proper location of the icon files. It might be worth a shot.

Aloha,

In regards to this, do I need to keep the server gui running, and the service, which makes the gui in effect a client, or should i stop the service and run the server through the gui only?

I don't think it matters. I'd keep the service running just to minimize the chances of messing something up. We definitely don't want you missing any recordings.

Forgive me for asking, but I should shut down the service while I install MC on the server right? Just to be sage? Technically I dont think it matters, but wanted to check.

Ok, installed on the server. restarted everything, and gui on server uses generic images. On my HTPC client, same thing. So thats 3 different installs, server gui had never been used, and none work with the icons other than the lovely Generic one and the Unassigned. More ideas?

Can you enable debug logging ?

- shutdown Sage
- add/edit debug_logging=TRUE in SageClient.properties
- add/edit plugins/df/debug_level=1 in SageClient.properties
- restart Sage
- go to the video library
- attach sagetvclient_0.txt to your post

Not sure if this would tell me anything helpful at all, but it's at least something to do ...

Dirk

Kirby,

PM me your e-mail address. I'll send you a copy of the prerelease v6.11 STV and JAR file that I used for testing on Sunday. I know for a fact these worked for me. The file dates are different from the final versions that ended up in Dirks release. Maybe something changed. Otherwise, I'm out of ideas.

Mike

sage client log and java error also

Dirk,

Attached is both the client log file, and a java error file, which I have noticed that I am getting for the past 5 days, so I am going to remove the JRE 1.60 beta and fall back to 1.4.2_11. Let me know if something sticks out to you.

Mike,

Thanks for sending those, but no luck. Same old thing.

Here is a question, on my Genre listing for 'Contact' it lists itself as "Drame \ Sci-Fi". Is the \ causing any of this issue? I doubt it, because it is getting into the Drama and SciFi folders, its just the images are not appearing.

Kirby,

Unless I'm reading this wrong (which is very likely), it looks like your classpath isn't pointing to the correct location for the .jar files. I thought they should be in

C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\JARs\

Code:
classpath=C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\Sage.jar;C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\plugin.jar;C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\;;JARs\commons-jxpath-1.1.jar;JARs\commons-logging-api.jar;JARs\commons-logging.jar;JARs\jcifs-1.1.6.jar;JARs\jdic.jar;JARs\mx4j-impl.jar;JARs\mx4j-jmx.jar;JARs\mx4j-remote.jar;JARs\mx4j-tools.jar;JARs\nielm_sageimdb.jar;JARs\nielm_sageutls.jar;JARs\sagemc.jar;JARs\sbbi-jmx-1.0.jar;JARs\sbbi-upnplib-1.0.3.jar
The rest of the log is full of errors where it looks like it can't find the class definitions.

Mike

Edit: Nevermind. I was reading it wrong. But the log is still full of those errors.

LOL. I get the generic genre icon for all genre's. (What's at the movies, I assume, is the generic one.) It shows up for every folder, either in folder view or list view...

I was, but removed it before this last set of tests. Have not rebooted that PC though, is it possible there are some left over hooks in memory? Guess I will reboot to be safe. I am back to Sage supplied version 1.4.2_11.

For the heck of it, I went back to MC 6.10a XML file, and genre icons show up. So what to make of that?

I assume you don't have any of my other Sage plugins installed ? The debug file you posted just showed me that I am using a logging utility method in the sagemc.jar file which is only defined in my utility library df_sageutils.jar that comes with all my plugins. If you dont have this library installed, the new genre code will fail ...

So just unzip and drop the attached jar file into the JARs directory and restart Sage, and the problem should be gone. I will remove the dependency in the next update.

Please accept my apologies ...

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you guess if it worked?

And yes, you are correct, no other plug ins yet. Thats in no way saying that I dont like all the other ones, but my time is limited and just havent gotten around to them yet!! Now I can concentrate on a other issues, like getting comskip/SA working.

Mike,

Now that I am all fixed up for the icons, I have a question back on the guide bars.

The icon set I am using is the bright bars, and it appears that you are stretching those square PNG's to fill the whole time slot for the bar right? The issue I have is on Movies. That category never has the black lower left/upper right area in them, they are always solid unless I highlight one. Is that how its supposed to be? Look at the pretty picture to see what I mean

Have I got something wrong on my end?
