P.S. I'm stuck at work for almost another 2 hours. It's only 3:15pm here!

The Genre Icon update is now available as separate downloads for the color and blue icon sets. The links can be found in my signature.

From the Download:

v 1.0
1. Added Biography and Music icons
2. Added elongated icons for the fullsize list view in SageMC (*_list.png)
3. Added icons for the fullsize folder view in SageMC (*_folder.png)

I ended up having to split the icons into two separate downloads after all. I tried unsuccessfully to upload the combined sets (12Mb) 3 times. When I tried to upload just the color icons, it worked on the first try, so I decided to go with that. It probably isn't that big a deal but I figured I should explain.

Thanks to everyone who contributed ideas and critiques. I think it made for a much better result. I'm pretty amazed at how fast this all came together. Huge thanks to Dirk for that!

Aloha,
Mike

Hmmm, all mine are showing up with the generic images. Not sure if its just this machine or not, I'm actually on Vista RC1 right now, and so some of my issue could be related to that, but not sure yet. I didnt do any mapping of genres, but did enable the icons in 6.11. Ideas? I know, more beer!

It does make me wonder if its a similar issue to that one that Dirk fixed before regarding the icons showing up at all. Hmmmm.

Did you install the new jar file as well as the .xml file? I had the same problem in testing when I didn't have the new jar.

Aloha,
Mike

You mean the sagemc.jar? Yeah it installed from the 611 install, and I just recopied the jars manually, and they are the new version, but still no graphics other than the unassigned and generic images.

Yup, the client. Not the server, but nothing was put on the server. But if I had to guess right now, I'm thinking its something to do with Vista not playing nice with the JAR.

Just tried the graphics on my HTPC (xp mce) and they dont show up either, just the generic one, and the unassigned one. Tried in list and folder view, tried to switch to sagetv3.xml, exit sage, restart and reload mc 6.11's xml file, still nothing. What have I missed?

Did you enable it in the SageMC options screen under Detailed Setup -> Advanced -> Sage 16X9 Options -> Icons -> Fullsize Genre Icons? I believe they were disabled by default.

hmmm idk they just worked for me lol. When you view your videos program info do they actually have a genre listed? I believe this is required from my understanding. See below.

See where it says Action as the genre so this movie is under the action folder.

Well, that brings up another thing. When I installed 6.11 and the genre icons, all my "My Videos" seemed to disappear and go back into the unassigned folder. Now I cant be sure until I get home if they are all there, it almost seems the the current shows in unassigned is what I still had not updated, which means that Sage has lost about 300 recordings that were updated with program info from IMDB or with default sage guide data.

Could that be the default '1000' limit on the IMDB size and mine was already larger than that?

To answer the question though, I did go through and select 4 or 5 movies that were 'unassigned' and updated their info with IMDB and saved it.

Just to prevent any confusion here: the new IMDB lookup cache is only for TV shows and their cover art in the 'Program Info' menu, the cover art/info in the Video Library is handled completely differently. There has been no change to the VideoLibrary (other than the full size genre icons).

Kirby, did you ever get around to doing a fresh reinstall of Sage? Not sure why, but I was having the EXACT same problems, and no matter what I did, could not get them to work. Once I got a fresh install, everything started working.

Heck, it might be just enough to uninstall Sage, and just delete the JARs directory, and then reinstall. Not really sure what was causing the issue.

No I didnt do that on my HTPC. But my desktop has a clean install of Vista so that is new Sage install. I installed full sage client, its 1.4.2 java, upgraded to 1.60b98 java, installed MC 5.10, 6.11, genre icons (yes the new ones) and configured all the MC options.

I do know that back on 6.10, Dirk had me use that 6.10a version which then made Genre's work, and thats why I was wondering if that same issue is in 6.11, but I would assume Dirk kept that fix in place.

Well, you'd assume...

I haven't tried it yet, as I haven't had a chance to upgrade to 6.11.

Fell asleep too early, and missed my window...
