I tried using 6.12a with Version 6 and pulling up the guide doesn't use the colored guide bars and seems to almost lock up the system making it very irresponsive, but leaving video running. I'll use the default stv until flachbar gets it upgraded. Boy am I going to miss MC in the interim.

Flachbar, please hurry I'm already starting to go through withdrawls.

I think its something wrong with your setup then, my guide is working fine with colored guide bars. No lockups or slugishness at all. In fact I would say its quicker than before.

This is on v6 and 6.12a. I upgraded, then reloaded my MC XML file in the advanced menu.

That's exactly how I did it. Maybe I should download and re-install SageMC. I have noticed that with the default stv it is definitely snappier. I was pretty convinced it was SageMC because I have 2 clients with the exact same problem.

One other thing I forgot is that I'm running JRE 1.60-rc with the latest updates.

The SageMC guide works fine for me too, and I am also running Java 1.6 ...

A little bit off-topic (since it is not really SageMC related, but I thought I should let the guys here know): the upgrade of my main server to 6.0 yesterday hasn't been too much of a fun ride so far:

- the metadata for all my imported videos is gone (luckily I have most of it as DVD profiler info available)
- the thumbnail generation for my pic library stops after about 1300 (out of 4000) pics
- my FLAC music collection does not import

Well, it might just be my setup, since I haven't seen other reports for that.

But I'll stay on 6.0, simply too much good stuff in there, and I hope these issues will be sorted out soon. With this said, please no general beta discussion in response to this post, only in regards to SageMC specific issues.

Yes, all new core functionality should also be available when running SageMC ...

One thing I have noticed--and this existed pre-6.0 is that when i go into my imported movies and bring up the IMDB search--it shows coverart and everything. Once i hit save---all the info disapears leaving only the coverart and length of movie....any thoughts?

Also--what dooes everyone feel the best way is to view/sort their imported videos. I really don't like genres but wouldn't mind having folders somehow that categorizes by 'Movies', 'animations', TV shows, home videos...so what are you all doint for this?
thanks
JUC

My IMDB searches work perfectly and save all data. Not sure why yours arent. Maybe an old JAR file laying around?

I actually like the Genre's and with the ability to make custom Genres (for you, 'Home Videos' for instance) and the new feature coming from Dirk (which I cant comment on) you really should like the results.

Plus you can always just assign custom genre's to your shows: "Movies" "Animations" "whatever". Then you dont have to have it broken into other genre's like Drama and Action and whatnot.

i will try it--but assigning custom genres to 200+ individual files will most likely be pretty time consuming...but will probably get to what i am looking for.
Re: IMDB-ya-not sure what is up with the info not saving correctly. I 'think' it worked pre-v6 but can't really be sure.
Thanks

I had a chance to test this new feature out last night. I think you're gonna like it.

Aloha,
Mike

Yeah it should really be worth the wait! Of course I'm hoping for some v6 enhancements too But Dirk's only had a few days to mess with that I think. Probably shouldnt pester him about v6 stuff for at least another 24 or 48 hours.

Keep in mind that once SageMC starts supporting V6 features it will no longer be backward compatible with older versions of SageTV.

Aloha,
Mike

I don't think it will be a huge deal as long as dirk splits it into a new rev line (ie 7.x) so that the differences can be seen.

I sooo want to upgrade to 6, but I won't have a weekend for it till November

Yeah, I'm testing that other really cool feature out, and it's working perfectly. I think you will all like it as well.

My guess, is that this thread will need to be retitled to indicate that it works for up to version 5.x of SageTV, and then start a new thread, and possibly a new version number of SageMC (7.x), for compatibility with version 6. That way people will not get (too) confused...

LOL...acrowe...

My concern is only that not everyone will choose to upgrade since there is a nominal fee attached. But I got my upgrade key within 10 minutes of the announcement, so I'm good.

I haven't had much more time to play with the boxes. I'm at the point now that I know the firewire ports are active (I can change channels) but I get no video using VLC. So I'm pretty certain that they 5C'sd everything. I haven't had a chance to call the cable co. yet, but I really don't think that will get me anywhere. So basically my next step is to set up 2 STB's with firewire channel changing and connect the s-video outputs to my pvr500 card. I just have to figure out how to set up the exemultituner plugin to control 2 STB's, but I'm hoping that will just require 2 registry entries. Thanks for your help. If all goes well, I'll have full access to my digital lineup with 2 tuners and access to the analog lineup with my pvr150. Not ideal, but it should be an improvement over what I have now.

Aloha,
Mike
