I don't have any menus that say this and yes I am running SageMC. I just reinstalled and rebuild the whole thing following the instructions to the letter (or damn close). The only menu's I have close are settings/detail setup. Flashbar also talks about tons of settings. I don't seem to have those either. Can someone please, please point me in the correct direction here. Maybe screen shot, or detailed instructions for me. I would love to fix my problem with my ripped DVD repeating the previews. Thanks

Hi Glenn,

yeah the install instructions have not been absolutely clear:

- if you are currently using the default STV, you have to load SageMC_169.xml at Setup/DetailedSetup/Advanced/Load Application Package

- if you are already running the 5_10 SageMC version, you find the menu at Settings/DetailedSetup/Advanced/Load Application Package

Once you have loaded the latest SageMC xml file, you will see the SageMC options on the same page as the "Load Application Package" option, at the very bottom

Hi John,

there is no fix in 6.12 for this because I simply hadn't found a good solution for this yet. I experimented with various widgets settings in Studio, but I couldn't find a way to prevent Sage from shrinking only one icon instead of both. The other proposed solution to move them to the empty space below is not viable either because I found that for shows with a longer title the icons won't show up at all then ... I probably will add a 'correction' parameter (similar to the title correction) which allow to shorten the channel description for 4x3 displays. Should be ready tonight ...

Feature request! Dirk, I hate to ask for anything new when you release a new update, I am VERY appreciative of all you do for us with this STV, but here is just a little 'Would be super nice' thing I would like. Ok, you know when you goto a recording, and the extra details at the bottom show "Closed Captioned/ShowID:#", and then we can cycle through "INFO" to get to "Size of file" and "Filename"...
As I said, should be ...

Also, the way we can change the "category" for videos now is awesome, but say like I have a movie like "Marines", right now it is listed as "Action/War", if you goto either "Action" or "War" it is listed in both of them, but I cannot change another movie to put it into two/multiple categories. If it is already edited as 2 categories it is fine, but you cannot edit new movies to be in multiple categories (or I don't know howto). No biggie, just a thought....
See my response to Heidi

When you say shorten the channel description, do you mean to go from:

Quote:
19 KTVTDT - KVTVDT (KTVT-DT) Dallas - Ft. Worth
to something like:

Quote:
19 KTVTDT
If so, hopefully use 16x9 display users can use it also! Because I would love to eliminate all the extra "- KVTVDT (KTVT-DT) Dallas - Ft. Worth" since I really do know where my channel is coming from, and dont need to see the call letters 3 times to remind me!

Ah ok, this would even be easier. Currently the line is constructed from

chl number - chl name - chl description

So I will just disable the whole channel description (instead of shortening it), of course with enable/disable setting

Awesome! As for the icons, I was going to ask about moving them to the area in the red rectangle here:

but I guess there is no need now.

I thought we figured out something like that when we were messing the the guide icons a few version ago. Is it not a similar issue? Also would it not make more sense to just move all the icons to the spot behind the show title? Are these not show specific icons and not channel related? Maybe I am just babbling........

IMDB search always returns 0 results (or an error!)

Hi All

I've just upgraded to version 6.12 after sticking with 6.8 for ages. (I was very happy with it so I thought I'd stick with what worked )

However, I've never managed to get ibdb lookups working, even the latest version, it always returns 0 results. Doing a manual search also returns 0 results. No obvious errors that I can find.

Some searhces e.g. for "JONNY ENGLISH" automatically or manually give "IMDB read Failed: java.lang.NullPointerException." After this error If I do a back I can see that it thinks it may have found 1 result, but it's just the number, no detail.

DVD Profiler import works fine for the same things.

Anybody got any suggestions how I can get IMDB lookups to return something?

Just confirmed that I do have the versions of nielm_sageimdb.jar and sagemc.jar from the v612 archive. I also restarted the SageTVClient just to make sure they were being picked up.

No change I'm afraid.

Can you generate a debug log file (instructions in the first post of this thread) and attach it here ?

No, this was a different issue, there were some icons in the Guide which did not have the "Resize" attribute set,and this was easy to fix. But here both icons are already resizable, and whenever the space is getting too small to display both in full size Sage will resize only one of the icons until it is not visible any more, and only the start to resize the other ...

True, but (of course just my subjective opinion) I don't think it would look that great, the title surrounded by the manual/series icon on the left and these others on the right, so I prefer to keep them there

I was actually thinking of moving ALL the icons to the other side but no biggie.
What if instead of those icons being resized independently, they were both in a 'container' that was allowed to resize? Is that possible? I haven't had a chance to play with studio again in quite sometime, so I don't remember the correct terms or even if that is possible.

No, unfortunately the panel widget does not have a "Resize" attribute. I tried quite a few variations, but none of them worked. But I come to think that that resizing wouldn't be a general solution anyway because I found some shows where the channel description in taking so much space on my 4x3 TV that neither of the two icons shows up ...

Doesn't mean that the current solution will be set in stone, but that's what will be in the next update.

Version 6.12a

Just uploaded a minor update 6.12a:

- added functionality to set category and subcategory independently
- added functionality to clear categories
- added setting to disable channel description in Program Info
- additional info state (showid/filesize) in Program Info now sticky

If you want to upgrade from 6.12, you only have to extract the xml file.

Dirk,

With the new category and sub category, are we able to define custom categories for each? Example, I record and archive a series call Smart Travels, in which there is a version for Europe, and a version for Pacific Rim countries. Could I set all to have a category of "Smart Travels" and sub cats of "Europe" and "Pacific Rim"?

Sure, you can choose any name for the categories / subcategories, you are not limited to the "standard" ones ... Simply add your custom categories to "genres.txt", and you'll be able to assign them as main or subcategory for any video

Hmm, ok, this is odd. One of my tuners is recording a show it shouldnt be. Its not a manually scheduled show, its not a favorite. I cant cancel it either. Is there a separate IR control in MC that I missed? Thats all I can figure is that somehow its using IR to think I want this show recorded.

edit: I think I might know... I have a favorite for "Stargate Atlantis" and the system is recording "NASA on HDNET" which is described as "the landing of the shuttle Atlantis". Would that cause the issue? Plus now I cant even find the IR setting to check to see if its on or off (supposed to be off).

Ok, found it finally. its disabled. The tuner is still recording, onto the next show now. It must be stuck, I will just have to kill the r5000hd.exe app and fire it back up, must have somehow gotten stuck thinking someone was watching that channel. Of course if it comes back on and starts recording, then something else is wrong I suppose.

*edit*

ack, forget my rambling...found a hung sagetv instance from when I VNC'd to my server from work. killed it, and all became fine!

Question about the Delete fuction in SageMC.

I remember when you would hit delete after watching a show with the stop pop-up screen and it would bring you back to the main screen.

A few builds ago, it would take you to the MY TV screen.

Now it takes you to the last screen viewed.

Can I edit where it takes you after you press delete on the pop-up screen after watching the tv show?
