For example, I have no idea what metadata is or .myfiles or DVD Profiler is.
Metadata is information about the show beyond the file name; ie, name of the show, name of the episode, when it aired, etc; .my files are an external file that contains the metadata on a recording. They're needed because of the fact that when you archive a recording, Sage treats it as an imported video rather than a recording, and you end up losing the metadata. With .my files, SageMCE16x9 can work around that limitation.

DVD Profiler is a program that lets you catalog your DVD collection. It has a lot of nice features, and is worth a look-over if you have a large collection of DVDs. It's not free, however; it costs $29.95.

Well, I just upgraded my Sage server and client about an hour ago while I was on lunch, so I couldn't give you a good idea of how good it is, but I will give you this piece of advice: consider how satisfied you are with your current setup, and how interested you are in the new features (which for me was mainly the YouTube support). If you're satisfied with your current setup and aren't really interested in the new features, I'd hold off until an update with more to offer comes along.

Just to add on to this: there is a freeware version of DVD Profiler available which has limited functionality (e.g. no high-res cover art, some ads), but is sufficient for everything you'd need in SageMC - give it a try, setup is easy, and it's a great addition...

WOW..thanks you guys. My brother liked my setup so much he's now looking into his own. He asked me what software I use and I told him "SageTV, the support forums are awesome!!!" This just goes to show.....

Thanks again, I'm going to check out everything you suggested.
Dana

EDIT: YouTube would be REALLY cool!!

6.1.4.128 RC Upgrade

Just wanted to let everyone know, who might be nervous (like me), I upgraded to 6.1.4.128 RC with SageMC and all went PERFECT. Looks really good, especially with YouTube.
Thanks,
Dana

Favourites have been named "Series" under SageMC.

After updating from SageMC 6.1.something to the latest SMC (and SageTV RC) my diskbar isn't working. Instead of drawing the glassy bar, the word "Untitled" is printed twice in that area.

I went into the SMC options and did a disable/enable, but no luck. BTW my diskbar is set to display "Info" in its options.

Any ideas?

Did you restart sage after loading the new version?

Hmm, I guess I didn't RE start it but I did the SMC update with Sage off. I shut it down, installed the SageTV update, copied over the new SMC files, and fired it up. I'll do a restart.

edit: restart fixed it, I'll have to put that in my bag of tricks. Thanks.

6.3.2c - can't save dynamic menu?

Fresh install of 6.14RC+sagemc 6.3.2c, turned on dynamic menus, after changing some menuitems i tried to save the menufile (ariel_menu.xml) and received an error "menu file write failed - see logfile".

I am using JRE 1.6.0. Could this be the issue...? Relevant log file pasted below..

so I installed 6.3.2c and I suddenly lost some mouse control. I can't go back a menu/screen by simply clicking on the background like I use to. is there a new option or something for this?

thanks!

The 'click-spot' for 'Back' has been moved to the upper left corner, as shown here

I upgraded to 6.3.2c

Now I am missing some icons, most importantly the manual record icon that appears on the GUI when watching a show, it used to be i would hit record and the program info would come up and add the man_rec.png icon to it. Thus, insuring me the program will continue to record once I navigate away from it. This icon is also missing from the newly added icon options page.

See screenshot attached.

The file is still intact in it's correct location. I have tried restarting the GUI several times, and replacing the file to no help.

Any suggestions?

I just decided to switch back to the default theme for SageMC and install the newest version. So I downloaded the base install and unzipped it, and then unzipped 6.3.2c on top of that. Now for some reason my dynamic main menus no longer work. I downloaded Nielm's plugin for the default STV and gave it a try, it doesn't work on the default STV either. I get an "invalid top level node version 1.4" error in either STV.

I have had this problem before, and it looks like I have an old JAR, but I don' think that's the case. I have a backup version of the JAR and STV folder that was working, I copied them over and I am still receiving the same error.

Does anyone have any idea what I managed to mess up?

I am also using the newest RC of SageTV.

Thanks,
Carl

Can you please list the folders within your ../sagetv/sagetv/ directory?
