Great!

Great job!

Now, I guess it's time to try and get the dynamic menus going so I can see the compression status menu...

Last time I tried I kept getting some sort of parsing error upon booting Sage and spent a the better part of a day getting things 'back to normal'.

Can't wait to see EP's DVD burn upgrade also... been trying to be patient.

EDIT** Just realized that EP's compression and burning STVi is online and ready to sample...ummmm... all in one day.... I can't take it...

It just keeps getting better.

Yeah, I think I'm pretty lost when it comes to trying to build the sagemc menu interface from scratch, which is what I seem to be stuck with right now. So until I can figure out a way to get the sagemc dynamic menu "template" to work properly, it looks like I'm back to non-dynamic menus...

I'm having the same problem, but I can't get menu.xml to load either.

All of you having problems with the dynamic menus: can you doublecheck that

1) you *dont* have a folder net/sf/sageplugins/sagemenu in your SageTV folder

2) you have the correct version of nielm_sagemenureader.jar in the JARs directory (10/24/06, 32,094 bytes)

Does the sage_menu.xml work for anybody ? For those having problems, can you post a debug log ?

One thing though. Launching Sage after starting service mode.. it just goes to a blank screen. Launching without service mode is OK

Weird, I'm running service mode without problem.
Can you post a debug log ?

WOW. Have you been busy. What a major list of changes. I can't wait to figure it all out!
I just got the new version loaded up. I first made sure I cleaned out all traces of the old versions including everything from the base 5_10. Re-launching Sage and choosing the sagemc.xml file worked perfectly. I assume I am using the old Sage menu by default. I will try out the dynamic menus now. But I have already seen my first issue. I still get the icon half off-screen as posted earlier in the thread. Any idea what is causing this?

EDIT
Dynamic menu popped right up. No problems here. Now it's time to learn how to configure it. I'll go play with it a bit now. FYI the graphic on the right side of the dynamic menu 'options' screen is stretched horizontally quite a bit. (you know how I am about stretched graphics).

Hi Karl,

no, unfortunately no idea yet. I can't reproduce it here, and haven't got any reports from others either. Do you have animation enabled ? If so, does it make a difference when you disable it ?

That's at least some good news

Darn and I hoped you wouldn't notice it that quickly ... Will be taken care of in the next fix release ...

I have animations disabled. Always have. There is someone else with the same issue. They posted right before or after my post with the image showing the issue.

Dynamic menu question:
Why does 'edit submenu/change title of menu' change the title of what I would call the main menu and not the submenu? I guess the wording is just confusing to me.

Did you ever test if the problem persists if you enable them ?

I might have just carried over the wording from Niel's default import, but you are right, in case of the main menu it is a little confusing ...

I saw the same issue, go to the Main Menu, and the My TV icon would either be missing, or stuck half off the screen. I have the animation disabled. I enabled them and it works ok. There is some sluggishness in the animation, but it does work.

I might have found one possible reason for this: there might still be an old menu DTD file laying around, I forgot to include it in the STV-only download.

Unzip the attached file into your SageTV folder, and let me know if it makes a ny difference ...

Dirk,

Excellent upgrade! Thanks for all the added features, especially a few of those you forgot! Not using the dynamic menus for now, have too much on my plate. A quick run through of much of it and not seeing anything of real issue here!

Just tested it and as ke6guj says, enabling the animation fixes it.

Another strange thing with the main menu is that when I press the 'home' button or use left as back to return to the main menu, sometimes I return to the item I chose to leave the main menu. Other times (mostly) I return to some other selection on the main menu. When animations are disabled I can actually see a flash of the icon half off screen for the original item I chose to leave the menu before the icon for the item the selection is on appears.

EDIT
FYI, this strange menu behavior I just described only seems to pertain to the dynamic menu.

The included sagemc_menu.xml main menu replacement does not contain *all* screens which are accesible in the standard SageMC main menu. In case you want to add them, here are internal screen names:

My Music Files: MyFileBrowser

My Simple Weather: Weather Menu

My Weather Suite: Weather Report Suite -- salsbst

My Weather: Weather

Other Programs: Other Programs

My Plugins: Plugins

Where does the above happen, on the main menu, or on the submenu ? And do you mean this happens when using dynamic menus as a main menu replacement, or when using the default main menu with dynamic sub-menus ? Further, do you also use icons on the submenu screen ?

It happens on the 'main' menu when using dynamic menu as a replacement for the 'main' menu. Default main menu with dynamic submenus??? You mean like custom1? If so, then no it only happens when replacing the main menu with dynamic menu. Icons on the submenus screen?? Again that confuses me. Sorry.

Also how does one edit the menu that pop out to the side of a main menu option? (I would call those submenus) Or is this what you are referrring to above? So many menus and names...things are a bit confusing.

How does SageMC handle "padding" ? I know that in the standard STV my shows would start at 0:00 and if I had padding set I could reverse into -0:01 etc...

This doesn't seem to be the way with SageMC anymore. Even if I have padding set on a show I can never reverse beyond 0:00.

Could someone explain this to me?

Thank you.

I don't have the folder BUT, my nielm_sagemenureader.jar is dated 10/06/06
and is not the correct size....

Ah-ha!
Where might one find the correct file?

Video library
When I browse to an item in the imported video library and view the details: using the skip buttons to browse the next or previous item results in the title not changing. The filename below it changes and pressing play will play the right file, it is just the title that does not update. Also after playig the file returing to that screen the name of the file has become teeny tiny. This method of navigation works fine in the recorded tv section. I noticed this in the last release of SageMC as well, but I stayed mum thinking it would already be fixed.
