do you have UI tweaks for XP installed by any chance ? There is a setting to prevent apps from stealing the focus. If so, disable this setting, I had a similar problem when I used to run Sage and Meedio together, and this fixed it ... Quote:

I'm having an issue with the .my files in the Video Library section. I've gone through all of my 150 movies twice and created .my files using the IMDB/Save option. They appear to be there and work fine for about a day, then they all disappear (the files are actually gone). Does the "Clean up orphaned .my files" option delete the .My files if there is no .mpg file?

What file types are your movies? We may need to get a logical OR added to the file type criteria.

"IMDB/Save" does not create any .my files. The IMDB info does get saved directly into the Sage database, so you shouldnt have any .my files in the first place. Or do you mean that you first did a IMDB lookup, and then created the .my files ? In this case the .my files will probably get deleted (since there is no .mpg/avi file), but you should still see the video info because it is still in the Sage database ... Dirk |

main menu weather
Having the weather on the main menu is fantastic! It looks so cool. My wife thought the moon was "our moon" which of'course got me to thinking again . I know I know... I've been told a thousand times. My mother even warned me years ago "don't think". Anyway...
If we can pull from Google and from IMDB, maybe we can pull a local moon from another source and display it at night? Anyone have an idea on how this might work?

I love the interface that SageMC uses...
I have just installed the Comskip Monitor and tested it last night on my server (that doesn't have SageMC) and with the EDL comskip plugin it worked great. So I assumed that I needed to install the same plugin with SageMC... but it seems like this wasn't the case. From what I have read SageMC already has this comskip edl reading integrated? I am a noob when it comes to the comskip part of this... what am I doing wrong? |

How do you have have your sage recordings directory mapped? If you are mapped to a lettered drive (ie: D:\\Sage Recordings), you will need to set up a mapped drive on your client that has the same letter and name. The other option is to map your sage recordings directory with a UNC path (ie: \\server computer name\sage recordings). The compskip plugin is looking to find the EDL file in the same directory as the recording, but Sage looks to the server and the comskip process looks to the local machine. This process gets confused on clients if, for example, D:\ on the server is the sage recordings, but it is a DVD drive on the client. |

I don't have any drives mapped on the client. I didn't think I needed to have any.
I have 3 drives that are storing the recordings. Do I have to map each of those to my client machine just to get the comskip to work? Isn't there some better way that this can be accomplished? |

Yes, just remap your 3 Sage drives using the UNC (\\server name\path to folder) nomenclature. In Sage Detailed Setup-Video Directories, click on your video directory and select "Change the Directory Path". Enter the UNC path to the directory. You should be good. |

Dirk,
JREkiwi seems to have made some rather intriguing improvements to the .my file creation. Any chance of rolling that into the next version of SageMC? |

Another .my file question.
I noticed in a prior post that IMDB save does not create a .my file. I have a .my file that has the info from the IMDB search results. Format looks different then from the Sage database. So what must have happened is that I did a IMDB lookup, saved the data into the Sage database and then somehow a .my file was created using that information. Now for WAF reasons, I can not use SageMC so I can't keep the saved info and NEED to recreate this wierd .my file result and duplicate it with my other imported movies. So How can I use SageMC to import the data and then how would I create a .my file with that data? I've been trying to duplicate this one instance with no luck... And is there a plan to emable .my file creation with the IMDB search results?

Argh!!! OK... so once again I went through and re-did the IMDB/Save process on all of my movies. This morning all seemed fine. Tonight only about half of the movies have their descriptions!! I haven't quit Sage, I haven't rebooted, or anything. The only thing I did was watch part of a video during lunch.

I'm using SageTV version 6.0.12.110 with SageMC 6.2.0a. Log files attached. Thank you.
Just scanned the log file and noticed the following: Tue 11/7 12:34:58.381 Seeker removing file because it's not in the library import path anymore:MediaFile[id=1872499 A[1872502,1872500,"Flightplan",0@1027.08:26,98] host=media-pc encodedBy= format=AVI 1:38:03 2163 kbps [#0 Video[MPEG4-Video 23.978779 fps 720x304 45:19 progressive]#1 Audio[0X2001 48000 Hz 5 channels 754 kbps idx=1]] \\MAIN-PC\Movies\Flightplan.avi, Seg0[Fri 10/27 8:26:30.700-Fri 10/27 10:04:34.000]] I've got lots of these in the log. I'm not sure why, the PC that they are stored on hasn't rebooted in several days. That leads me to wonder though... if I were to have my main-pc off for or happened to reboot it while it was rescanning the library, would lose all of my movie descriptions? If that's the case, this seems like a problem for anyone that stores movies on another PC.

This seems to me like a non-SageMC issue, maybe it's a 6.0 beta bug ? I would submit a report and wait and see what support has to say ... Dirk |

Can someone help a noob?
Problem: No DVD Profiler meta data will appear in my Media Library folders. I followed the instructions here: http://www.sage-community.org/index.cgi/wiki/DVD to get everything else up and running. The IMDB Search functions properly but feeling the desire to use higher res covers I thought I needed to go to with DVD Profiler. I am just using the simple version (free version) I don't know if that should make a difference but I thought it was worth mentioning. In DVD Profiler I set up the movie to use the higher resolution images. I confirmed this by going to the Images folder in DVDPro and the high res images were located there and in thumbnail folder. In SageMC Options I did the following Paths Other Programs: C:\Temp Offline path G: Meta data XML E:Collection.XML (which is where I exported the profile to DVD Profiler Path I set to use the Images foler in the DVDPro directory IMDB Cache path Using the IMDB Cache (functioning properly) Next I goto My Videos right click to Video Library Meta Data Options AutoLoad DVD Profiler Meta Data (enabled) DVD Profiler Refresh (click) select the movies (puts a mark by them) Import Selected (goes thru the process) There is no meta data ? Can someone please help me out? I am using the latest build (SageTV version 6.0.12.110 with SageMC 6.2.0a). Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks |
