Just wanted to let you all know that I finally got my Offline icons working properly. I don't think i had some of the paths correctly identified so i started from scratch and all is good now. Thanks for the help.

Wow, I can't believe you guys are having so many problems. I am using 6.2.0a without a single hiccup. The weather bar works great. I am using the MCE theme and pressing right on any menu item but my TV takes me to the weather bar. Pressing it takes me to the weather, and then backing out takes me right back to the home menu. No crashes no lockups. I am using overlay with acceleration. All animations are set to disabled (I want things fast). I am also just using beta 11 not 12 if that makes any difference, and JRE 5 update 9.

Does it sound like a common denominator among all the people with the lockups is the iTV theme? At least having had it at some point? Or are some people getting lockups who've never used the iTV theme?

Since you seem to be able to reproduce this consistently, can you try the attached STV (with weather bar enabled) and see if the problem goes away ?

Thanks,

Dirk

True, I could see how this could be thought of as the factor. However, I downloaded the iTV theme, before any other files that would affect the installation were in there.

When I checked the iTV theme download package, all it contained were image files, and the import file only, no JARs or anything else. I removed the import file, and redownloaded the SageMC STV (so it was fresh)...

I am on v6, but only -11, not -12.

Hey Dirk,

This new file does not fix the problem. It works fine with the weather bar disabled, but upon enabling it, I get a black screen every time when starting in full screen. CPU is pegged out at 100%. Starting in windowed mode and switching to full screen works just fine.

Has anyone checked their log files to see what's happening when you get either a lockup of the black screen of death? Maybe if a few of you could post the revelent snippets, we might be able to get a handle on what's happening.

Aloha,
Mike

I'd have to reinstall 6.2.0a, but would be happy to help with it.

I also noticed, that sounds have come back when installing 6.2.0. They don't appear to work anymore in the -a version.

Sage does not actually lock up when I try and load it fullscreen with the weather bar enabled. The screen is entirely black, however if I move my mouse around, I can hear the selection changing on the buttons on the main menu. So, the screen is blank, however the buttons are there. Clicking the mouse button anywhere on the screen produces a lockup, which in the log file is an AWTThread Hang.

The lockup that happens when I get the overlapping menus is also reported as a bunch of AWTThread Hangs in the log file. This one is not as easy for me to reproduce, as it has not happened since enabling the "disable stop menu popup" option.

I can post a log file of the black screen lockup, but I'm not sure if it would really help, since the lockup doesn't occur until clicking the mouse button. Let me know.

Hi Carl,

just so I know where to dig : does version 6.2.0 (with weather bar enabled) exhibit the same issue on your system ?

Switching back to 6.2.0 (with weather bar enabled) completely resolves the issue.

Well, I'm still mostly tapping in the dark, but could you try this one ?

Hi Dirk,

"My Menu" (menu.xml) stopped working in 6.20a. I didn't find the sagemc.zip. Nor did I find any other messages regarding this.

The custom menu is displayed and the options can be highlighted, but nothing is started or displayed when selected. If I'm switching back to the 6.13a xml (for SageTV 6.11/6.12), everything is working fine.

Any ideas?

Oh well, last thing I want to try ...

Btw, what's the value of "sagemc/weather_bar_scalefactor" in your property file ?

Hi Art,

did you follow these instructions ?

Quote:
- shut down Sage
- unzip *all* JAR files and SageMC_169.xml
- (important): delete the folder net\sf\sageplugins\sagemenu from your Sage directory, otherwise the new dynamic menus will not work
- restart Sage

Dirk

This one doesn't resolve the black screen startup issue either.

sagemc/weather_bar_scalefactor=1.0 in my properties file.
