Hey Dirk, minor request, can you add a new catagory, "Extras", into the SageMC prefs that way imports can have a place of their own to toss configuration items?

I just had another lockup (no iTV theme), where I was backing out from the "My TV" menu selection, to the Main Menu, and I got an overlapping, semi transparent view of both screens, then it froze.

Has something drastic changed between this version, and the previous version of the STV?

And then every time I restart I get the black screen again...

Geogecko, those are the exact same problems that I am experiencing. I have to start SageTV in windowed mode, and then maximize it. It looks like it's not an iTV theme issue, it's an issue with SageMC 6.2.0a.

I might have found a work-around for the lockup issue by enabling the "Disable popup on Stop" option in the SageMC options. I haven't had a lockup since I read this solution in the AWTThread Hang thread.

Hopefully we can find the root cause of these issues.

Another one that is experiencing the overlapping windows / freeze issue. Moving to the prior version resolves the issue completely.

LOL, every time I delete my previous versions of SageMC, something like this happens.

Would someone post the previous to the "a" version?

LOL, on another note, has anyone else noticed that the sounds have stopped working, regardless of the setting in the SageMC Options, or is it just me?

I've been having sound issues lately (installing new chipset drivers and what not), so it really could just be me...

Thanks...I think I might need that.

I just got done getting things back to normal, even "Enabled" the Disable Pop Up on Stop setting.

Then I right arrow over to the weather bar (oops...), and clicked on it...and locked up again...

I'm going to try a reboot before going back to the older version.

Do you have 3D accelleration turned off?

I just found a problem with the compact time display. When it's past midnight, the time is being shown as 0:31 for instance. When turning the compact display off, the time is 12:31. Turn it back on, and it's 12:31.

I'm pretty sure it's not using army time, but I never really paid that much attention to it.

Nope, it's always been on. Should it be turned off for some reason?

Locked up again. I'm headed back to 6.20...

You could try to generate a debug file (see first post in thread for instructions), and I'll have a look, maybe there is still a setup issue ...

Dirk
Cool, I will post a debug file soon. Thanks.

I had all these issues last night and thought I was going crazy! I finally just reset back to the default STV, erased all SageMC xml files I had, and all itv theme xml's, and started over fresh with 6.2.0a, and its been working fine now. Dont know why...

Are you guys saying that you get the lockups in 6.2.0a, but it's fine in 6.2.0 ? That would be really weird. Unless it's something with the weatherbar... Does it always happen on a screen where it is displayed ?

I wasnt getting the lockups per se, but the startup black screen of death I had (running the iTV theme). I think it was related to the weather bar though, because sometimes I could get the system to draw the sage menus, and my weatherbar would report a temp of "!! F" or "!9 F". When I got the black screen, I could eventually (after 2-3 minutes) move the cursor up or down, and things would appear. Maybe it was corruption from the iTV import too, I dont know. But after wiping out all xml's other than the SageTV3, I could reinstall and things worked.

Things that I tried that made no difference: starting in full screen vs. window mode, FSE on and off.

Could it be an issue where the weatherbar is trying to get the current weather info at startup, and its having network access issues of some sort, and delays the writing of the whole Sage menu to a point where it just gives up?

And yes, these issues were not there in 6.2.0.

I also removed the iTV STV's, and also all SageMC...xml files, and unzipped a fresh install of 6.2.0a, but still had lockup problems afterwards.

Last night, I switched back to 6.2.0 in hopes that my wife won't have to call me today while I'm at work. So far (I checked before I left this morning), everything is fine, with 6.2.0. I like the look of the new weatherbar. I don't see why the weatherbar would cause such an issue, since it exists in 6.2.0.

As far as locking up when the weatherbar is displayed...it could be. It's either locked up on the Main Menu, going to the Main Menu, or while in Sleep.

Edit.

Maybe someone needs to try 6.2.0a with the weatherbar disabled, and see if that removes the issue...

Wait a second, I never ran 6.2.0 (I think), I went right from 6.13a to 6.2.0a (I think). Heck I dont know anymore, I've got no working brain cells so I could be running BTV and not know it!

Good idea Geogecko, after disabling the weather bar I have not had any issues with black screens. Sage has displayed almost immediately in fullscreen now every time I have tried.

LOL, I'm going to stand by and wait for another reply... Hopefully, this will prove one way or another what is causing the problem...

FYI, I never experienced the BSOD (black screen of death), until after a crash. Heck, one time, it even took my sageclient.properties file with it! Here's to SageTV for doing auto-backups!
