If you originally installed it a long time ago yes, otherwise replace Frey Technologies with SageTV.
And if you're your running a client, or if you're running in service mode, then it's the sageclient.properties file. Make sure the client is completely exited (not just asleep). If you have to change the something in the sage.properties file, you need to make sure to stop the service. |

After getting it working I broke it again
I bought Nvidia Pure Video and ffdshow ignores it at this point. I have turned off hardware acceleration in the Pure Video options. I thought ffdshow would work with any codec if set to raw, but it seems to only like Cyberlink at this point. |

I'm going to try the new Geforce drivers, they have controls for the Pure Video filter settings. Maybe I can get the affects of ffdshow but without the CPU usage...

I had to pick ffdshow decoder instead of Nvidia, it was a suggestion at the AVS forums. It seems the Nvidia always goes through hardware mode and bypasses ffdshow while picking ffshow will use the defualt decoder (Nvidia) while running through ffdshow. That was clear as mud...

I tired playing around with ffdshow and tryng our a bunch of the guides I found on the internet, and couldn't see much, if any, improvement over the standard Purevideo decoders... it was especially bad with deinterlacing video over my DVB card ported through the Mytheatre plugin, regardless of which deinterlacing plugins I used. Plus, I couldn't deal with the VERY heavy CPU usage. (I like keeping my cpu fan in silent mode and this was impossible when running ffdshow)
I just tried out the new beta Nvidia 90 series drivers with the latest Purevideo codec and the "Smartest" setting in the decodeing got rid of the minor problems I had with the purevideo codecs, and the new Edge enhance and Noise reduction options make it better than I could ever get with ffdshow, and nowhere near the CPU usage |
