And I will revive it again....
I am in the process of getting my MCE remote to work with WHS (Which is basically Server 2003) and I am sorta stuck. I have it mostly working but I cannot use the play or pause button on the remote and same for the FF/RW buttons that are not the ones with the line in front of them... TIA |

And this is one of the reasons WHS is NOT designed for playback. It is a Windows 2003 server and is missing various components like directX to even support playback, let alone a MCE remote. Playback should be done from a PC with the SageTV client, Placeshifter or a HD200.

Well, that is not entirely accurate...
WHS/2K3 has DX9c and fully supports video playback. I understand that this is not a "normal" setup but it is one that I am very nearly 100% complete with and the only issue remaining is the MCE Remote issue. It is also not at all difficult or buggy with playback or anything else that is going on. Just the silly remote issue. After some more research, I have ordered an USB-UIRT as it looks and sounds that it is much more compatible with things. |

That's what I use-a USB-UIRT on my WHS. AFAIK I had to download and install DirectX before getting any video playback on my WHS. But if it works for you great. For me I have a HD200 sitting next to the TV. Much nicer than WHS.

I would love to get an HD200 but the shipping is retarded for Canadian customers. $45 is WAY too much unless that price is for express shipping. (It does not state that it is and the only thing it does say is Canad Post)
Hopefully the USB-UIRT is here tomorrow. If you do a full regimen of updates with Microsoft Update, WHS will be pretty much tweaked out. The latest XP drivers from ATI and NVidia seem to work fine in WHS/2K3 and that even includes the ATI Catalyst interface. |

eHome infrared transceiver
I tried this with an ehome infrared transceiver (Rosewill RHRC-11001), but no joy. I even added my PID to the irbus.inf file, but it still says Windows can't find the software to install this device. :-(
