In the XMLTV Importer channel ID are supposed to be something like this: CHANNELNAME.COUNTRYCODE For instance : rtl.de This for saying that this is the channel RTL for Germany (whatever is transport is : Satellite, Terrestrial, Cable etc...). The channel ID is supposed to indentify uniquely a channel only based on its content & schedule. So all RTL channels that have the same programs content (and format of course HD / SD) at the same time are supposed to share the same ID. Regards, Stéphane. |

Working on upgrading and reinstalling my SageTV setup. Using v4.3 of XMLTV Importer (donators edition).
I get my XML data through DVBGuide, then adjust a little, before import. Some channels are not always updated or do not have data at all. In XMLTV Importer / Channel Lineups I set the "XMLTV Data" column to "No Data". Which I was certain, in my old setup, made XMLTV Importer not report "error" on these channels. But when I run this setup now. I get the following lines in .log file: Code:
20100807 16:20:25.672 - Error - The following channel cannot be found in your XMLTV file 'TVOSTFLD' 20100807 16:20:25.674 - Error - The following channel cannot be found in your XMLTV file 'NRKNYHET' 20100807 16:20:25.675 - Error - The following channel cannot be found in your XMLTV file 'TVFOLLO' Have I forgotten something ? Or is this by-design ?

Hi Rasmus,
Quote:
Unfortunately the Importer is using a MD5 hash for helping in EPGID creation; the MD5 algorithm seems to be rejected in your .Net Framework and without the MD5 aglorithm the Importer cannot work. You car review this link: http://blog.aggregatedintelligence.c...lgorithms.html for enabling / desabling the FIPS check. You have either to edit a security policy or create a config file for the Importer so that FIPS compliance is disabled in the Importer. Regards, Stéphane. |

Hmm, I was trying to secure my Remote desktop connection to my server by using this guide lines:
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com...1-6166676.html No FBI pay check Im affraid For now I disabled the FIPS mode (figure F) and things seem to work again. To a non expert it seems strange that this setting should influence the functionality of the XMLTV importer. Thanks for the help Rasmus

The Importer uses a MD5 Hash, .Net offers a MD5 algorithm so I use it... The problem is that this FIPS thing started in .Net 2.0 and the Importer exists since .Net 1.0... at this time the MD5 algorithm was not considered unsecure and a thing to ban (in the Importer it is used for hashing so there is no security concern here)

Hi Stephane
I've been using your importer for a while now and it works great apart from one thing. I know other UK users have had this problem too and it obviously is hard to track down. When the same episode of a program is shown on 2 channels I get different episode numbers. Look at The Deep at 9pm on BBC1(1) & BBC-HD(8) the correct one is BBC1. Let me know if you want log files etc.

Then you see it's a problem of the grabber rather than the importer? I had this too, had to switch to the Birtles grabber instead as Nick couldn't find the problem in DG2XML.

Think ive got it going it hasn't altered that one in the past but will hopefully keep it right from now on. Now to try and get some logs over to sage about the 30 second skipping in Sage 7 recordings

So as rick told it's an error in the grabber. The Importer cannot fix it because it's perfectly valid to have episodes with the same title and different ep. numbers...

Hi Stéphane,
I have a feature request: My EPG source sometimes does silly things, e.g. if there is a soccer event: 20:15 - 23:00 Soccer: Belgium vs. Germany 21:35 - 21:45 in half time: news 22:35 - 23:00 Interviews So you see, there is one entry with the full show and several smaller parts that create a conflict. Your xml importer throws a warning in the log file and seems to take the last entry. In SageTV then there are empty parts showing no data. Is is possible for the importer to (maybe optionally) not take the last part but the longest one? Usually I want to record the whole batch ;-) Regards, Oliver

Hi Oliver,

However there is a dedicated xmltv attributes for this situation: clumpidx. But it does only concern shows that share the same timeslot (same start / stop)... So take a look in your XMLTV file to verify that these shows does have a "clumpidx" attribute, if this is the case I'll see what I can do for shows that do have a clumpidx but doesn't share the same timeslot... Regards, Stéphane. |

Hi Stephane
I recently had problems with my xmltv file maker and swapped to the birtles one as it was not correctly identifying episode nos. I now have a problem where the program description is incorrect, this time the xmltv file is correct but what i'm seeing in sage is an old description from an earlier showing. I've included a few screen captures to show the problem.

Probably just the normal importer behaviour. If the same program and episode combination happened before, it always uses that description. If you use the Importer settings and tell it that each of these programs is different, i.e. that it's not episodic, that might fix it. This is in Categories, highlight Sport, tick "Shows of this category are generics". Delete the files in your Guide Data folder and rerun the import, see if that helps.
