Three years later does anyone want to weigh in? What about for H.264 files from the HD-PVR?

I haven't used showanalyzer with HD-PVR, but with standard cable, it does a *perfect* job without any tweaking.

Comskip does h.264 with AAC or AC3 audio from .ts files

I use comskip which handles h.264 fine for me. SA development has lagged lately.

I'm using SA for h.264 right now, however, I'm considerng switching. While the initial setup of the new SA is a breeze, and I've offloaded the processing to another PC without any problems, I'm not very happy with the results. The commercial detection needs a lot of work.
Jere pokes his head out every now and then and provides an update here and there, but it's nothing consistent. One thing that I do like about SA is it's real time detection. Even with h.264 files, it pretty much detects in real time on the fly. How is Comskip on that front? I know that some speed improvements have been made, but is it at the point where it's real time yet?

I have comskip running real-time so that about half way (sometimes sooner) it shows the commercial markers while I'm still watching and recording a show. Accuracy is pretty darn good also.

Hmmmm, I might have to make a donation so that I can test it out. right now, SA's poor commercial detection is brin the WAF down slightly, particularly when watching 24.

Also how do you control the process throttling with comskip.

I am using dirmon as I don't care for comskipmonitor but processor load is going up towards 80% for and mpeg file with compskip on a 3ghz duo core.

In the global setting tab of Dirmon set the Global Resources Available to less than 100. (Try 50). Also in Job Management set When Resources required to half of the resources available. (Try 25).

Set livetv=1 in the comskip.ini.

Gerry thanks for all the tips I just found the 1 in the ini and adjust the processor usage. Got another one for you I am a paid beta user and I am using the latest version but the commercial skipping is terribly off compared to show analyzer again this is using mpeg 2 files not ts. It also sometimes has 3 skips in a commercial break. Not very pleased so far.

Could you follow the procedure outline in this post
http://www.kaashoek.com/comskip/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=34
and I will be glad to help you as there seems to be ample room for improvement.

The example you send me seems rather ok,
Except for one commercial that is not entirely identified.
You maybe can solve this by setting
logo_present_modifier=1

Are you required to make a donation every time you download a new beta? I have donated before, and downloaded the beta which includes the detection for H.264. Is it still true that only the beta contains H.264 support?

Once donated means forever access to the early access area where you can find the h.264 version.

Just add the line.
The comskip tuning forum has a full list of all possible entries in the comskip.ini file.
There is now also a large annotated overview explaining most of the parameters.
A nice reading for a dull afternoon.

Hi guys,

Resurrecting an old thread because it's old, and I'm trying to get my system set up, and comm skipping is definitely a gotta have. So, which one are people using and happy with now? Are updates still timely and accuracy still high? I would rather watch a commercial than have part of the show removed due to falsely marking a commercial (I've had that happen using mythcommflag).
