OK, SageTV 5 is not usable with DVB yet. Rather than downgrade to 4.1.12 (when it did work), keep an eye on
http://download.sagetv.com/users/qian/

Qian will shortly post a fix there (v5 is now working). Then you can try to scan, and if that doesn't work, hopefully Pork Chop will post a FRQ file.

If you use ScanChannelsDBA, close Sage, Powercinema and make sure nothing is using the tuner.

That's great, thanks for that, will keep an eye on it.

Thought I had closed down everything when trying to use ScanChannelsDBA, but will try again!

When you scan the channels again, try using these frequencies:
505834
481834
561834
529834
578166
537834

There are now updates for DVB for v5 at:
http://download.sagetv.com/users/qian/

They are working well for me, but remember to back up and update your FRQs.

Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T-USB2 card test

I need someone who has "Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T-USB2" card to help to download the DVB-T patch (http://download.sagetv.com/users/qian) to test.
In my record, SageTV supports DVB-T card
1.Technotrend DVB-T PCI card
2.Cinergy 2400i
3.Provideo's PV913
4.Kworld VStream DVBT100

Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T-USB2 will be next in support list.

And I need every body to help building PredefinedScan.frq for different country, currently there are only 3 country’s freq setup in it .
Thanks!
Qian

I'll upload my frq file for the Crystal Palace transmitter later today when I return home.

Great stuff, but for v5 (using the latest files from Qian's downloads), FRQ file entries change from:
ch:1 505834 8 4164 0 1
to
ch:1 0 0 4164 505834 8 0 1

I'm sure you can spot the pattern.
Let us know how you get on.

Working at last

Hi all,

finally got v5 working with most channels from the Crystal Palace transmitter, thanks for everyones help.

Couple of outstanding problems that are puzzling me...Still can't get bbc 3 or 4, (which is the main reason I am trying to set this up as luck would have it), have attached my scanchannelsbda log file, with all 6 frequencies scanned, but no BBC3/4. Is it possible this is due to poor reception, even though all other channels seem to work?

The other problem, is on Sky News & Sky Sports News (not so fussed about these), they are reported in the scan channels log, but sage just comes up with no signal when tunning to these.

Have attached my .frq file also, if anyone can cast any light on this, would be great.

Once again thanks for everyones help on this

Jason

Did you scan them after 7pm? Those channels only transmit in the evenings, before that you'll get no data.

When did you last download from Qian's area?
http://download.sagetv.com/users/qian/
He updated it yesterday, it may be worth a try. I'll attempt to view those channels later, see how I get on, I did have a problem with an earlier version.

Thanks for that!

Am just in the process of figuring out how to set up the xmltv thing, and had actually just noticed that bbc 3/4 only transmit after 7!

Downloaded the latest sage v5 from sage without any patches from Qian, and dvb seems to be working ok, so assume this patch is now included in latest d/l file from sage?

Odd thing is they work perfectly in power cinema!

I would very much doubt that Sage would release these patches in a stable release product without a round of Beta testing - DVB in fact is not a part of any release. So it may not be reliable. I had the previous release working, but when the first round of concurrent timed recordings came around, I got many crashes. If you're running without the patches do lots of testing!

Finally!!

Well, thanks again to everyone, finally have an up and running, and recording version of Sage including the xmltv epg system, albiet with fairly regular crashes. I am assuming this is probably because of the DVB-T aspect of the software. Seems to work well as long as I am not doing anything else on the machine!. Going to try running it on my Server (Windows Server 2003), see if it might be any more stable!

The one odd thing I would ask about is the fact the some of the recorded shows seem to have a habit of crashing whatever media player is trying to play them (windows media player, divx, etc). Is this possibly something to do with a poor signal, and therefore corrupt data in the file? Anyone else had this kind of problem?

Also, where is the mapping from the channels numbers in the frq file, to the channel numbers in the xmltv epg system? Everytime I set it up, i have to remap every channel back to the frq numbers via the Sage TV interface, can I not just edit a file somewhere?

Have posted my crystal palace frq file should it be useful for others.

Many thanks

You should only have to set it up once, so this is unlikely to be an issue! The mappings are buried in sage.properties I believe, just not in any format that's easy to decode. If you set it up from scratch again, copy in your old wiz.bin and sage.properties and you should be good to go.

Great, thanks for that. Think i am going to be playing around with it for some time!

Do you know also, if the sage tv media extender will work over here (PAL/NTSC issues etc), or if there are alternative (i imagine not), that I can use to get a live tv signal to a tv?

I understand it works with a simple settings tweak, but someone else will be able to tell you I'm sure.
