12% of US laptop market share
Yeah - 12% was the figure released a few weeks ago for the end of Q2. Damn - they doubled their market share from 6% in January!

Ah, yes- my MacBook Pro. I'm sure I'll appreciate the burning warmth of its metal shell on my lap more when it's winter...

Macbook Pro 17 and Sage
I have a MBP 17 and use parallels with sage tv client (placeshifter doesn't work for me). The client works OK in parallels but is a little quirky. A native client would be superb. Parallels is using a Server 2003 installation.

MAC CLIENT!!! I'LL BUY A COUPLE.............
Hi all,
just wanted to add my order for a couple of Mac clients. I have 2 macs and I love them. Yes, I also have a peecee, which I use SageTV on, and I love it also. But, boy would it be nice to connect over my wired/wireless network and view recorded shows on my mac powerbook G4. Or, to be able to placeshift and watch a recorded show from a trip with my powerbook. Now, I "know" the sage guys can do this, it is probably just whether or not they have enough of us willing to buy it? I know of several people (mac users) that would jump on it if they would make it. Maybe if we ask them "PRETTY PLEASE"............... |

We're now also a Mac family with my push for my gf to get herself a Macbook for grad school. I'll probably do the same when I goto grad school in a year or two. However, I'm still dissassembling a Bang & Olufsen tape deck from the 80's to build my Sage client inside

Got MAC?
I've got a Powerbook 15" that I take on the road. My wife's PC is a windows XP home running Sage TV. I would love to have a Placeshifter client for my laptop. Infact I have a placeshifter license for the PC that I'm not using. Any word on any updates to SAGETV's progress in making a MAC version?
Thanks, Mike |

They were looking for private OS X beta testers at the end of September. It looks like they were looking for people who could test the Server as well as Placeshifter, as there was a heavy emphasis on having a Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2. That was the last we've heard about this, but I think remember reading a release on a Mac site that they are looking at a Q1 2007 public beta release.

Did anyone happen to notice the placeshifter client for the Mac?
I'm not sure if this is old news or not, but tonight I noticed that there is a placeshifter client for the Mac available in the SageTv store. Anyone tried it? How long has this been available?

I bought one license Yesterday. So far, so good. Even I won't be able to improve pq any further, I'll probably buy another one next week if it turns out to be as solid as I think it is ..

Hello
Is the development for the SageTV client for Mac still ongoing? Regards Neph |

Yes it is. The Placeshifter Client can do almost everything the regular client can do except execute STV extensions locally and playback DVDs. So the Placeshifter works pretty well as a 'SageTVClient' for the Mac.

Yes, it does. PQ is overrated.
Seriously, I have been waiting for this for a longtime time, so, thanks a bunch! |

Is there a snappy way to get the place shifter client to load automatically at startup? Using this on the "main" playback server in my living room will require it comes up on its own after startup since I don't have a mouse or keyboard hooked up.
The only issue I've had with the PS approach on the MAC here is the remote - we've been suffering along using the MAC remote which is really weak - just can't see springing for a full PVR USB 2 just to use a full remote out in the living room... but I suppose after a while this will get annoying enough that I'll spring for it. Anyone else get a "real" IR remote working with a MAC for a reasonable price?
