Guys....I am going to most likely return one of the two NVidia cards I got since you can't use two in the same computer. But, I'm very happy with the quality of the dual tuner and I have even set it now to Great (2gb/sec) rather than dvd at 3.2. Two things though I just noticed:
1. I'm not sure yet if it is me or the NVidia card but I tried getting the FM Radio customization to work and it won't. However, it could be me because I never tried getting this to work with my pvr 500 card. Ironically, I get static when I try to use my pvr 150 (but I don't think there is an FM tuner anyway with that card; I pulled the 500 out of the server at this time). Yet, I get nothing when I try FM with the NVidia. 2. When creating a DVD in the 2gb/hour mode it seems like some DVD players are not playing the DVD and I'm not sure if that is because 2 gb/hour is a non-standard mode compared to GOOD at 2.4 and Standard at 3.2. Anyone know? Otherwise, this card is much better than the PVR 500. Thanks, Mike |

Fair and Good are SVCD or 480x480
Great and Best are more for DVD or 720x480 |

Actually Sage has Good listed as Format DVD and not SVCD but I was just wondering if that format or something else would cause dvd players to not read a dvd that I burned.
EDITED: How can I find out what the specs are for the different capture settings since they are no longer in the properties file? Thanks, Mike Last edited by mike1961; 05-15-2006 at 02:22 PM. |

Just got this setup & running and I love it, but .....
It's much quieter than my other tuners (PVR-150s) I know I can decrease the volume for the 150s through registry settings, however they play at a volume we like. Anyone found a way to increase the volume of the DualTV tuner? Thanx |

How do you change the volume on the Hauppauge 150? I tried the tweaker and it does not work. Every day I grow to hate the hauppauge cards more and more. Also, how do you change the volume on the NVidia cards?
Thanks, Mike |

python2 no longer exists in properties in Sage 5; I don't know that that will work and why the hauppauge tweaker does not work for volume even though it has a volume control is beyond me.

On his site (Under Tips & Tricks) he also has how to now adjust the volume of the Hauppauge 150. It worked for me. As per the Sage.properties edit, I have never tried it, so I can't comment. Still love to know if anyone found a way to edit the NVidia's volume. Thanx |

Possible good news on multiple DualTV cards from Nvidia...!
I sent the following email to Nvidia as a 'pre-purchase' question:
Hi, I'm considering purchase of the Nvidia DualTV capture card (based on the ViXS chipset). I need to use several of these cards (3 total) for my SageTV server. Does the driver currently support multiple DualTV cards? If not, is it planned in the future? If so, approximately how soon? Thanks! And today I recieved the following hopeful reply: Hello PGPfan, Thank you for contacting us. The installation and operation of multiple DualTV cards is not supported in MCE and SageTV. However, since SageTV expressed interest and support for our product, they are actively working with us to make this possible. You may want to follow up with SageTV periodically to track its progress. Best regards, NVIDIA Customer Care Yet another reason to love SageTV. I don't know very many companies that stay on the ball like they do. -PGPfan |

Well - I'm glad you are getting some good news back because the people I've been quite disappointed with the people I have spoken with at tech support at NVidia. I feel like I'm wasting my time on the phone with them. They seem very uneducated.
EDITED: By the way, the quote from the NVidia tech to you was wrong when they said "The installation and operation of multiple DualTV cards is not supported in MCE and SageTV" This is only true in Sage with the NVidia card but not any Dual TV card. Mike |

The product is DualTV, not Dual TV. Multiple nVidia DualTV cards also do not work in MCE. DualTV is being used as a reference to the nVidia cards only, The only other company that uses DualTV (not Dual TV-2 words) is ADS on their one DualTV USB model. They use it to reference the fact that their tuners do traditional Analog and DVBT with the same card. So actually the nVidia Customer Care statement is correct for both Sage and MCE. Don't confuse the model name DualTV with the generic term of Dual Tuner that's used with PVR500 and others.

What I"m referring to is the fact that MCE (microsoft's media center edition)only supports two tuners (or one dual) so even if NVidia allowed for multiple cards in one computer, the MCE software (microsoft media center edition - mce) does not support more than two tuners (regardless of the tuners one chooses) but Sage supports as many as your computer will allow for.

Please check out the Green Button forum. There's been a way to have more than 2 analog tuners run in MCE for awhile. It's here:
3 tuners in MCE And it's just a registry hack. Gerry
